How To Make Tissue Paper Tassel Garland
I just love tissue paper tassel garland. It is fun and festive and has just the right touch of whimsy. Don’t ya think?
I used some in a game day post that you can find here. There are lots of fun football printables in that post plus I have every single letter in the alphabet available so you can make your own bunting.
Anyways, Tissue paper garland is fun for parties, holiday decor, children’s rooms or anywhere you need fun and color. To make tissue paper tassel garland you will need tissue paper, string and a cutting tool. You can use scissors or an X-ato, ruler, and cutting mat.
This is the point in which I apologize for my grainy phone pics. When crafting at night, in front of the TV– this is the best I can do. This is the perfect kind of mindless task to do while watching TV by the way.
Creating tissue paper tassel garland is really cheap and easy, but it can be a bit putzy and time-consuming.
To start fold your tissue paper in half length-wise. In elementary school we said like a hot dog bun. Anyone else?
Then you are going fold it half the other way. In elementary school we called that a hamburger bun fold.
The second fold allows you to get twice the amount of cutting done. When you cut, you start at the unfolded edge and cut towards the fold. You stop an inch or two short though.
When I cut mine I just put the ruler down and and run the knife down, shift the ruler and repeat. I have done this both ways, scissors and knife. Knife was definitely easier.
When you are finished cutting you piece will look like this.
Now you just twist the center part and shape into a little look–kind of like putting the twisty tie on the bread. Then you run string through the loops and voila!
Like I said, cheap and easy, but not necessarily quick. I’m curious if you folded a bunch of pieces, could you cut them all at once? The tissue paper is thin enough– it just might work!
