My next destination after New York was of course Washington D.C. As I traveled by train, the distance between these two cities wasn't too long. And you can't say you know the U.S. without visiting the capital. So already when I started even think about this trip, I knew D.C. would be on my list. I just thought about seeing the White House, but didn't know that much what else to do there. People said it would be boring to stay in D.C. for five days, but in the end it wasn't so at all!
The great thing is that you don't need a car in Washington D.C. It's very easy to walk from sight to sight, and if you get tired, just take a subway. I walked almost all the time, even from the center to Arlington (that's already in the state of Virginia) and to Pentagon (but after that I was so exhausted I had to go back by subway, haha). First it was pretty weird how quiet the city was. I mean, it's the capital of the U.S! But I really liked being there, it was kinda cozy. And the architecture was beautiful. I just wanted to take photos all the time, because there were nice buildings in every corner.
I loved this little park nearby U.S. Capitol. I spent time there just reading a book and sipping frappuccinos.
U.S. Navy and Marine Corsps Memorial. There are many really impressive memorials in D.C. I can recommend visiting the ones that interest you!
