Paris Avec Lin: Day 3.

Last one, promise. Then it’s back to the fluffy self help stuff for me.

HOTEL BREAKFAST Is there anything better than a hotel breakfast buffet? Even when your cappuccino looks like that thing from Ghost Busters that fell into a bowl of cacao powder?

For breakfast I had the hashbrowns, bacon, scrambled eggs, orange juice and coffee two days in a row. Breakfast of the hungover champions.

Just in case anyone was under the false impression I’m good company. This was what Lin had to put up with all weekend long.

I never actually talked to her apart from “what’s the WiFi code again?” and “More wine, please.”

JARDIN DU LUXEMBOURG We had breakfast early so we could still have a stroll around Paris before leaving again. The weather was nice: Cold and windy but very clear and sunny. We made our way to the park around Palais Luxembourg for a walk, where you can spot lots of Parisian runners and tourists walking around.

CAFE DE FLORE Cold but happy we sat down at Cafe de Flore for a cappuccino (Lin) and an Earl Grey (Me) – I know, world opposite. We let our drinks warm us up, watched people pass us by and I accidentally flirted with the hippie three tables over — I thought it was a girl with really pretty hair until he turned around.

THE NOT-SO LONG WAY HOME The streets of Paris on a Sunday? Extremely quiet in comparison to the rest of the week. Whereas poor Lin had to navigate through Paris on lunch rush hour on a Friday, I breezed through downtown and onto the highway in about fifteen minutes.

Nevertheless, a victory because I had been kind of freaked out about it, especially after Manfriend has predicted some Frenchie was most definitely going to rear-end the car at some point during our driving through Paris. Thanks babe, real reassuring.

I drove for about three hours (pee and coffee breaks excluded) while we listened to Florence and the Machine, Ellie Goulding and Calvin Harris, Lin fed me baguette with goat cheese, then Lin took over for the last hour of the drive and we were home around 5 in the afternoon.

IN CASE YOU COULDN’T TELL I had a great weekend. Mostly because I can go anywhere with Lin and have fun, but the champagne, Frenchie bacon sandwich, the Bikram Yoga class and the beautiful hotel definitely didn’t hurt either.

I can’t wait to a) go back for more bacon sandwiches and b) go to another cool place with my best friend somewhere in the summer.

But first things first. There’s work to do, stuff to blagh about and yoga to be done. Talk to you later!
