Guess what came out this week? On new movie Tuesday I marched into Walmart to buy a DVD that my son, yes son - more on that later, has been waiting for! Disney's The Pirate Fairy!

To celebrate this DVD release I wanted to do something special with Jude. I knew that the moment he saw that I had the movie that we would HAVE to watch it. To make sure we got into Pirate Fairy mode I created a super easy and yummy movie time snack that was a hit with Jude and Teagan.

Blue Pixie Dust Chow Recipe:

Ingredients: 5 ounces of vanilla flavored candy coating (Vanilla Bark)
2 TBSP shortening
5 cups of Crispix cereal
1 1/2 cups white cake mix
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1/2 cup blue candies (I used M&Ms) 4 TBSP blue sprinkles (Pixie Dust)

Directions: 1. Combine vanilla bark and shortening in a microwave safe bowl. Melt in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds until mixture is smooth. Took about 90 seconds.
2. Place the Crispix in a large bowl. Slowly pour the vanilla bark mixture over the cereal. Stirring often to completely coat the Crispix.
3. Add the cake mix and powdered sugar to the cereal mixture, toss to coat!
4. Add the candies and Pixie Dust. Toss again.
5. Serve! Yummy!

Most of our society would think that The Pirate Fairy DVD should be a girl only movie but my husband and I think otherwise and hope that more people start thinking this way. As I said before, Jude is obsessed with fairies right now, in fact when he went "shopping" at his school book fair he bought a Tinker Bell book. He loves it! I want to support my son in his interests, no matter what they are.
So when I walked in the house on Tuesday with a surprise for Jude this is the face I saw...

The silly face of excitement! So much fun! We quickly ate dinner and then had our own little family movie night watching The Pirate Fairy and enjoying our Blue Pixie Dust Chow! Yum!! Memories made!

Disney's The Pirate Fairy is a really great movie. I thought it was a perfect movie for Jude and even Teagan. She liked the baby croc...so did I! Too cute.
