Simply Serve 2014 and FREE Printable

I am so excited about a new project I am participating in this year with some amazing women and we'd love for you all to be a part of it! When I hear the word service it instantly makes me think of planning and organizing and scheduling to pull off some big gesture that will help someone in a significant way...and then I get overwhelmed. As I begin to try to simplify my life this year, I am realizing more and more that serving others doesn't need to be a big, fancy production.
I’m collaborating with these amazing women this year in hopes that I will step out of my comfort zone and bring more joy into others lives by choosing to "Simply Serve"
Nat (Take the Cannoli)
Sadie (Simply Sadie Jane)
Corrine (Mint Arrow)
Tiffany (Rue Rococo)
Jen (Delightful Deets)
Often I find that the acts of service I have received in my life that have made lasting impressions are small, seemingly insignificant, possibly even unnoticed by those who were doing the serving: a stranger holding the door while I stroll through it with my stroller loaded down with 3 kids, a grocery bagger offering to unload my cart onto the check stand because they see me trying to bend down into it while wearing a sleeping baby in my ergo, a friend from church offering to drop dinner by when they read my Facebook rant about having been cleaning puke off my carpet all day, my husband taking the boys with him to the gym so I can sleep in an extra hour.
All of these were small and took little to no planning, but were oh so memorable and appreciated beyond words. That is what this collaboration is all about. We are making a commitment to serve someone each month and we hope that you will join us on this journey.
  • On the 1st Thursday of each month this year we will give you the prompt of who to serve. They will be people in your community, your family, your friends, strangers...each month will be different.
  • Decide on an act of service, big or small and document your experience on your blog.
  • On the 4th Thursday of each month we will all post about our service experience and provide an opportunity for you to link up your posts as well.
The theme for January is "Serve Yourself" Treat yourself to a special treat, some quite time (even if it's just locking yourself in the bathroom with a pint of Ben & Jerry's), buying yourself a new workout outfit, a trip to Target, anything goes! Use the hashtag #simplyserve2014 when you share any social media about this project so we can follow along!
The goal of this link up is to inspire you to serve in ways you may never have thought of before or to serve people you would not have realized could use a little sunshine in their life. As a bonus, each month Alissa from The Printed Palette will be sharing a FREE printable for you to download. At the end of the year you will have a collection of 12 coordinating prints with inspiring quotes.

We can't wait to share this journey with you! See you on the last Thursday of January!
