Never did I think that at 39-years of age, I would still be learning a thing or two about friendship. I’m blessed to have strong women in my life I call my friends. I owe my loyalty to them because they have never made me question theirs. Yes, loyal people really do still exist.
10 Things I learned about friendship from amazing women I call “My True Friends”
- Loyal people do still exist.
- We are all fighting hard battles, and we have to remember that about each other. Our battles may not be the same, but they affect us nonetheless.
- When someone breaks you down, your true friends will make you smile again.
- Never underestimate the power of a kind word or even a smile. Sometimes a simple gesture is all a friend needs during hard times to make them feel better.
- Your best friends can hear you, even when you are quiet.
- When someone wants to be in your life, they will seriously make an effort to be in it; that’s a true friend… and you should do the same for them.
- Communication is about listening to your friends, just as much as talking to them.
- Friends love you, even when you aren’t so lovable.
- You never have to impress a great friend just to keep them around.
- They don’t forget you when you move across country, or aren’t around as much You know the saying, “Out of site, but NOT out of mind.”
I know my true friends know who they are, not just because of my list above, but because they know who I am, and where our friendship stands.
