Does translucent powder make your skin lighter?

If it’s a good translucent powder, no it won’t! Translucent powders are supposed to be completely colorless, even though they might look light (or even completely white) in the pan. Translucent powders aren’t meant to alter your skin tone or add any extra coverage, and are merely setting powders - generally to absorb oil or minimize the appearance of pores.

Make Up For Ever HD Pressed Powder - $36

The reason I say “if it’s a good translucent powder” is because some translucent powders are a bit thick and will look chalky or ashy on dark skin tones. That is why many brands offer “tinted” versions of setting powders - they’re still sheer, but will have a warmer tone and will counteract ashiness.
