mother of the year

For Mother's Day we hosted a simple lunch at our house for my in-laws. And by simple I mean simple for me. Dan had to grill a bunch of chicken and vegetables and make bruschetta. I was in charge of cutting the cheese and opening a can of olives. However, I did do the dishes so that gives me another point or two for sure.
Sadly, we don't do a lot of hosting in our home, mainly because there is honestly not a single room in our house big enough to comfortably fit more than five or six people. I absolutely adore our little abode, but hosting a big group is not the easiest thing. However, I learned something this past Sunday. Apparently you can fit more people (and dogs) in our teeny tiny sunroom than any other room in our house. I think it has something to do with all the windows and natural sunlight. Even though elbows are touching and knees are knocking and dogs are sniffing your crotch, you somehow never feel claustrophobic. Crazy.
And speaking of crazy, can we talk about that crazy brown stuff on my head? I decided to let all my blonde grow out and this is what I was left with. This and a sprinkle of gray. Who knew I had dark/gray hair? Crazy.

Know what else is crazy? That second to last picture. That would be the very first time in over 16 months (16!) that I have consumed more than half a glass of wine. I wasn't planning on having more than one glass, but Porter gave me the gift of no sleep the night before Mother's Day. I'm talking 1.75 hours tops. So I gave him the gift of expressed milk in a bottle. His face kills me. He couldn't believe I was giving him a bottle on Mother's Day. Mother of the Year I tell ya. Oh and yes, the wine was good. It was sooooo good.
