Top 10 DIYs and a blog award

You might have noticed a little addition to my sidebar recently.

That’s right, a couple of weeks ago I was hit with the brilliant news that I’ve been nominated for the Amara Interior Blog Awards.

I’m in the ‘best DIY blog‘ category and you will notice that I have some mega competition, so I only have an outside chance of walking away with the title, but nonetheless it feels brilliant to be a nominee along with some of my favourite and most inspiring bloggers.

The good news is that you can help me get onto the shortlist by voting for me here. All you have to do is put in your name and email address and I’m assured you won’t get spammed. Thanks so much! Voting closes on October 3.

In honour of my nomination and to prove my credentials for you clicking through and voting I thought I’d take a look back at some of the best home DIY projects I’ve shared on the blog so far.

1. This makeover of a set of matching vintage plates with little more than a Sharpie marker is and remains my favourite because of its simplicity and popularity. Currently working out where the plates should go in my new kitchen.

2. In the last couple of years I’ve used Publisher, a printer and a simple Ikea frame to make lots of word art prints for my family and friends. It gives me great pleasure to give handmade gifts and be called ‘clever’ repeatedly for doing so :) This destination print for my brother and his wife was my first such project.

3. I’m not so much a fan of Christmas (it’s just the everlasting build-up, not the day itself) but you can’t get away from it – it happens every year and it’s creeping back upon us again already. But making these DIY Christmas gift tags had even me feeling like Buddy the Elf for a little while.

4. I still find this DIY embroidery hoop art so pretty and uplifting.

5. One of my more recent projects, I dug out my trusty Sharpie marker and gave this old bowl a geometric makeover for my renovated bathroom.

6. Was super chuffed when this ‘home sweet home’ hanging fabric banner that I made was featured on mega-blog Apartment Therapy.

7. When the kitchen is finally finished, I’m looking forward to dragging this DIY neon pink edge cake stand out of its box in the loft, baking a lemon drizzle cake and inviting the girls round to admire our handiwork.

8. These old lamps that I recovered and repainted still help brighten up our bedroom.

9. As does this paint chip confetti art, still hanging above our bed. Got to be the most budget-friendly DIY that absolutely anyone can do and that can be adapted to fit in with any colour scheme!

10. This spray paint lamp makeover is another fairly recent project and I love waking up to it sitting on my dressing table.

PS don’t forget to vote – thank you!

PPS remember when I was nominated for ‘best craft blog’ and went to the Company Style Blogger Awards?
