Ty Burdin is in a very bad place. It is quite obvious he is burned out and just wants to quietly drink himself into an early grave. He is basically a straight shooter who has been repeatedly lied to and taken advantage of by his (former) employer. Ty is disillusioned – fed up with killing monsters for an ungrateful agency that has never played fair. In fact, in Ty’s experience , some of the worse demons are the deceitful humans who somehow trick him into doing their dirty work. He is having none of that this time – come hell or high water. His patience with the bureaucracy and the self-serving jackasses within the Agency is non-existent. Ty refuses to do any more jobs and the body count escalates while he continues his self-destructive downward spiral.
In this book the legendary demon hunter finds out that walking away from an unpleasant job is not an option when the demons inside are as destructive as the ones wreaking havoc all around him.
This book had me mesmerized; I felt like I was watching a train wreck, unable to look away. I understand Ty’s extreme resistance to help such a corrupt and bloated bunch of ungrateful sycophants, but I wanted him to stop wallowing in depression and find a purpose. The excess boozing really bothered me at times. I hope Ty finds the courage within himself to better compartmentalize these self-destructive behaviors, finding a much needed balance within himself. Not all monsters are easily recognizable. Ty has a unique understanding of evil in its many forms. I want him to figure out how he can best use his talents while foiling the less than honorable plans and actions of an out of control leadership.

Alex lives in the tourist infested hills of east Tennessee with his amazing wife/muse and three superb children. He would tell you more about how awesome they are, but you probably wouldn’t believe him. When he’s not hanging out with them he’s making pizzas and occasionally he jots a few words down. He’s a big fan of good music, good storytelling, and fun, lots of fun.

He once wrote a short story about pirates to his wife via text message that blossomed into a full length novel and never stopped after that.
