I’m not very good at ‘doing’ my hair. It’s either freshly washed and down, or tied up in a loose bun to get it off my face.
Blow-dries are becoming a rarer occurrence too as I finally accept that yes, my hair is thick, wavy and it’s WAY easier to leave it to dry naturally.
(By the way, I’m currently obsessed with this product by Rahua which gives my hair enough texture and shape to look OK whether up or down. And if I want a bit of a smooth and shine, this Phyto 7 serum is the business for sorting out frizzy ends.)
What I’d love to be able to do easily is the halo plait, a very high fashion look with very low maintenance requirements.

Last week I went to the Cheeky Parlour in Shoreditch (it’s part of the Soho House / Cowshed super franchise) to get halo’d.
It took the stylist minutes – MINUTES – to do it with her very nimble fingers and it cost £15, which I don’t think is too bad for a hairstyle that makes a statement.
And from the front! With fashion editor Chloe Wood, who also had her short bob plaited.
I slept in it overnight and it looked slightly more dishevelled the next day, but not in a bad way. Basically it is your perfect festival / wedding / holiday night out hair do.
