Long Rant-ish post

I only just stumbled into the wild world of BJD recasts. Ho boy. Lots of sanctimony, from lots of people involved. I personally might not buy a recast doll, but I’m not going to get all up in people’s faces about it. Why? Because if we’re going to get all huffy about recasts, we need to start getting huffy about people downloading illegal music/movies. For reading manga online. And for using the property of others to make a profit. For example, go to etsy.com and look for Legend of Zelda. Right now there are 80 pages of LoZ related things. Are these people being ousted from the LoZ lovin’ community at large for doing what is essentially bootlegging? No! They’re so cool for making that pencilholder and that bath mat! They should be making money, oh they totally deserve it for having such talent. How many sanctimonious LEGITBJD owners have sewn a costume based off of someone else’s character? And how many have sold it? How is that any goddamn different?

Too Long, Didn’t Read? Stop bitching about recasts if you are in any way involved with pirated music/movies, or the selling of the designs of others, even if it’s under the guise of FANARTTT.

(I hope this is appropriate for this venue… You all seem very even handed, and I respect that greatly.)
