MAC Face and Body Foundation in C2: A Dual Purpose Base

The MAC Face and Body Foundation was something I’ve had on my to-try list for a long time but it wasn’t available in our local MAC stores until recently. I don’t usually step into a MAC store but when I saw this foundation on display, I knew I had to check it out.

The foundation comes in a simple plastic squeeze bottle and I can see how practical the packaging is especially for makeup artists, who will not have time to deal with delicate glass bottles. For a regular consumer like myself, the light plastic bottle is travel-friendly and easy to store.

I purchased the shade C2 and it is quite a good match on me. In MAC terms, I am in between an NC20 to NC25 and tend to prefer slightly yellow undertones as I find that it helps cover the redness on my face better. I can’t wear anything that is too yellow or warm though, so the yellowness needs to be somewhere around the neutral territory, if that makes sense.

The texture of this foundation is smooth and blendable. I have used my fingers and sometimes a brush (for a heavier coverage), and the foundation works perfectly with these two methods. I don’t think I’d recommend using a sponge because the consistency is rather liquid and the sponge may absorb more product.

The MAC Face and Body offers light to medium coverage and is buildable. It feels lightweight on skin, so it’s ideal for those who can’t stand heavy foundations. I have not had any break outs after 3 weeks of regular use but I’d recommend that you test this before purchasing because MAC foundations are notorious for causing break outs on some people.

It is a fairly long-lasting foundation and stays on me for at least 5 hours before showing signs of fading. I don’t find the oils on my skin eating away into the product causing a cakey or pooling effect. It does oxidise slightly on me but just dabbing away some of that excess oil seems to freshen it up a bit.

The colouring system on the Face and Body foundation is different from the regular MAC ones. They start with C1 (yellow based) and N1 (pink based) and have around 13 shades available locally. I won’t recommend judging by the online swatches on MAC’s website because they look inaccurate. And oh, speaking of website, did you know MAC Cosmetics Malaysia offers online shopping?

And finally, the MAC Face and Body foundation costs RM100 for a good 50ml. That is definitely value-for-money because most foundations cost something ridiculous these days. Also, most foundations contain 30ml of product so you’re getting an extra 20ml in this bottle for a pretty good price. I am very satisfied with this purchase and don’t really have much to complain about.

Have you tried the MAC Face and Body foundation before? Do you like lightweight foundations and which do you currently use? Do share your thoughts as I’d love to hear from you.
