First dive

(Hier geht’s zur deutschen Version)

After spending nearly 3 days in the car we couldn’t wait to get wet again. So we were really excited about our first dive in Marsa Alam. As already mentioned we werelittle bit late to do the regular afternoon dive but we were allowed to dive the house reef of the Oasis in Marsa Alam.

The house reef there is a drop off and you have to walk a little bit and until you reach the dive site which is at the end of the small hotel jetty. We jumped and immediately saw a pair of blue-cheeked butterfly fish which seemed to welcome us. What else you can ask for?!

Afterwards we went on discovering the reef keeping one eye in the blue. “You never know what is passing by” that was what we had been told before we jumped. But unfortunately the big fish were busy that day and had no time to give us a warm welcome. But the small water creatures did! Such as this pretty little nudibranch…

…or this small version of a scorpionfish.

We were just lucky to spot him because he moved little bit when we passed by. Except from this little move his camouflage was impressively perfect! In total we have seen maaany scorpionfish in Marsa Alam as you will see in the next couple of days…

So what is our resume after the dive? You clearly see that it is a different world in the south. The reefs are healthy and virgin due to lesser tourism.

However, we like our house reef in Sharm el Sheikh more. But this might be due to the fact that we know it and its highlights so well! And this is worth its weight in gold as we will tell you in one of the later stories…

First, we needed new power for all adventures that were still waiting for us. Therefore we went to the city of Marsa Alam which is like 15 minutes away by car. There we went to Mashrabia, an Egyptian restaurant that was highly recommended!Great food! On our way we had the pleasure to see the sunset over the mountains…

That’s what we would call a perfect finish!

And don’t forget: dive2bubble!
