Narragansett Beach, RI

Recently our family had the privilege of vacationing at one of our favorite beaches around New England…Narragansett Town Beach in Rhode Island. You may wonder why we like this beach and the entire town of Narragansett? It’s speculator for so many reasons starting with a half mile of clean white beachfront, fabulous waves for surfing and playing, two pavilions with restrooms and changing rooms for the entire family, ample parking, a first aid station and award winning life guards.

As you travel through this town there is so much to offer folks of all ages. A beautiful boardwalk that is filled with morning walkers starting around 5 am. I know because I was up early to see five sunrises during this trip and I can say it was one of the highlights of our vacation for me. I was able to photograph the sun rising from 5 different locations each morning offering breath taking views. I was even able to convince my 11 year old son Michael to join me one morning. His first ever sunrise and he loved it. There’s something about being up before most people and enjoying the start of your day at the ocean surrounded by not only God’s beauty but the peacefulness that comes with the start of each new day.

If the tides are just right the surfers will be riding the waves as early as 5:30 am. There will be folks taking a yoga class at 8 am on the beach and other gatherings…some just enjoying a coffee and the paper. There are many wonderful restaurants and places for night time entertainment. Some of our favorite restaurants in town are Spain, Turtle Soup, Trio, Aunt Carrie’s, Crazy Burger Cafe and Juice Bar and for a treat Nana’s Ice Cream Bar.

One of our favorite stores in town…The Narragansett Surf and Skate Shop and we stopped into see Trish (the owner’s daughter) quite often this past week because Michael rented a surf board from them.
They are the friendliest folks and will always take care of your needs. Check them out! They offer the Peter Pan Surf Camp!

Please come along with me on a little trip through my images and see why this beach brings us such enjoyment. Perhaps someday we’ll be lucky enough to spend an entire month here during the summer. It’s a dream but we all need a dream right?

I wish I could share even more images with you…I took 1000 for the week! Enjoy!

Some of the things that can be found along the shore.

These kids that have been friends for two years. They met at Peter Pan surf camp last year. They love to surf, skim board and boogie board together.

Mom even got in on the fun!

Beach Yoga classes offered by Natural Fitness of Narragansett and begin at 8 am! What a great way to start any day!

Some of the beautiful flowers you will see growing all around Narragansett. I think they love the warm weather and moist air. They’re so Vibrant!

Some of the images from my first morning sunrise. This statue is called “Dance of Peace”. I love how the light it hit perfectly.

Capturing the sunrise through my crystal ball.

You will see many little bunnies hoping around town. We sure did and we loved it…they are God’s adorable little creatures.

Narragansett even has there own brewery and beer. Quite refreshing at the end of a hot day.

This is the Point Judith lighthouse located near Galilee. It was established in 1810, built in 1857 and automated in 1954.
It is presently an active U.S.Coast Guard aid to Navigation. My son Michael and I took a short ride to watch the sunset one evening from this location.

These photos were taken as we watched the sunrise at Black Point which is located near Scarborough Beach.

Sunrise at Hazard Rocks, the unofficial name for coastal rocks that lie at the end of Hazard Avenue in Narragansett, Rhode Island.
The rocks can be very dangerous at high tide and low tide too. I slipped and almost dropped my camera…bruised my knee for sure.

Michael enjoying the sunrise and discovering snails in the little tide pools.

Did I mention you can also fish along the shore? Scott Surdut, a Narragansett native of 15 years has enjoyed fishing off the shore most of his adult life.
This day he caught a stripped bass but had to release back to sea because it was not the legal length of 28 inches.
The kids surely enjoyed watching Scott pull in his fish and many came over to watch with excitement.

I decided to have some fun one morning capturing Michael skim boarding with my 10mm fish eye lens. I love how it makes the ocean appear so wide.

This morning I arrived at “Bonnet Shores” before the sunrise. Bonnet Shores is a gorgeous hidden beach on the north side of Narraganset. The entire area is clean,
very beautiful and the ocean is quite calm because it’s located in a cove. There are rocks on the eastern end of the beach that allow for rock jumping into the ocean.
A great beach for families and people of all ages. I was photographing from the area where the fisherman leave for their busy day at sea.
In the images you will see the Newport bridge in the background.

I absolutely love this salt pond I discovered one morning on the north end of Narraganset.

Surfers and Paddle boarders around 6 am one morning enjoying the surf. Those are the famous towers in the background a premier cultural icon and a
favorite venue for public events and private functions. What a beautiful place to hold a wedding ceremony.

I believe this was my last sun rise to witness this week and I stayed at the Narragansett town beach to watch all the surfers. I played in the sun too.

We were fortunate enough to take a boat ride through a few local marinas to see the world from the water view and it was quite amazing I must say. So many
lucky folks that have been blessed with living right on the water.

Look at all those lobster traps! We did enjoy lobster on our vacation and as always it was delicious!
