Incorporating the Olay Total Effects to the lineup…

About two months back, I shared…

BeautyUnited sent me a box box of SOS goodies, to help get me through the (what was supposed to be a hot summer) day.

Today I wanted to share about the Olay products that I got in that box…

Now that I am getting older, and getting further and further away from being 21, I have felt more of a need to work on prevention. Very late, I might add, but better late than never.

So what did I think?

I mentioned using the Olay Fresh Effects Wipes, and generally like them. They are soft, smooth, and doesn’t scrub at my face. I mean I can do that myself, I don’t need the power of the wipe to do that for me. But that is my opinion, as I do tend to use a heavier hand. What I also liked about this is that it didn’t take too much work to melt the eye makeup, and to wipe away. I was wearing waterproof mascara, so that did take more time and work. However, aside from that, it was easy to work with. Plus it didn’t leave a sticky feeling on my face, which is usually the reason for me using Kirkland Baby Wipes in the first place. I will be heading on a vacay in September, and I know that I will have a pack of these on hand for sure. It can get a little pricey, as the entire line is geared for anti aging, but luckily PG has coupons for a few dollars in the local paper inserts once in a few weeks.

If you have really dark circles, this will not immediately reduce dark circles. It is a formula that tends to lean on the lighter side, and it isn’t quite buildable. But, if you don’t have extremely dark circles, you could pull off using just this and running out the door. I use it more to moisturize the undereye, and then to use as an adhesive for my mineral powders. It is is pretty moisturizing for me, so because of the water, I think it makes my fine lines (more genetic that my skin is, than actual wrinkles) seem more plump. The thing is, though the brush is soft, it leaves fine lines. So I pat it down with my ring finger. Also, brushes might not be a thing for some people.

This one was interesting. First, I’m not a huge fan of pots…only because I usually have long nails, and the product gets stuck in my nails. Squeeze is my fav. But I tried to keep that thought out of mind when I tried it out. What I liked about this was the brightening factor. It has these subtle shimmers in it, to give your eye brightening look. Because it diffracts light, it gives a brighter look to the darker undereye area. Coverage (as you can see below), is quite sheer. So again, I would dust a powder on top. I did find it relatively fast absorbing, and didn’t add to making my face oilier than it already is. Always a plus in my books. Again, since it is the under eye area, you want to pat this product, rather than smearing it and rubbing it in. Not just because of the fact that it could potentially damage the area, but also because then you evenly distribute the product and its effects.

Now, the biggest hurdle for me to get over, is the price, as they all hover about the $20CAN mark. It isn’t exclusive to this line though. I know that I need to spend money on skincare to reap the benefits. However, because of my cheap is fun mentality, I have issues trying to get over this. A personal thing. However, like I mentioned, there have been coupons that PG has placed in their newspaper inserts which can be helpful. Then there are points events at SDM, or Airmiles through Rexall. These things help, even if it is just a little, so make sure to utilize them. If I were to drop one thing from the trio, I think it would be the brush. I prefer my undereye treatments, especially when they are to be used in the morning, to have more pigmentation.

You can find these guys… Well.ca, Walmart.ca, SDM, Rexall…pretty much everywhere.
