Hands down the best eye primer for oily and hooded eyelids! Finally, I can wear eyeshadow and eyeliner without worrying about creasing and smudging in the summer. Generally, one tube of eye primers lasts me at least a year. While I really enjoyed using the LORAC Behind the Scenes Eye Primer last year, it became ineffective after I depotted it (the product was getting too dry and it was difficult to squeeze out of the tube). I decided to splurge on this eye primer and I must say, it is worth every penny.
PACKAGING: I really like the packaging and applicator of this NARS eye primer. Back in the days, I actually really liked the Urban Decay Primer Potion genie bottle because it had an applicator. It’s just so much easier to control how much product you want to use. The only down side to this type of packaging is that you can’t see how much product you have left.
PRODUCT: The texture of this primer is quite thin, similar to a very light-weight lotion. After applying it onto my eyelid, it leaves a matte finish. In my opinion, the finishing texture is most similar to that of the LORAC eye primer. Even though the product itself is white, it goes on transparent, so it does not even out the skin tone (not an issue for me but it might be important for some other people). This primer definitely makes my eyeshadow and eyeliner more long-lasting. Everything stays in place for a good 8 hours before any smudging or fading happens.
PRICE: This is the most expensive primer I have tried so far. It costs $25 for 0.26 oz, which is less product per dollar compare to UDPP ($20 for 0.37 oz), TFSI ($20 for 0.35 oz), and LORAC ($21 for 0.53 oz). But the tube of the NARS primer turned out much bigger than I had expected. So I’m pretty sure it’ll last me just as long as the other three products.
I would strongly recommend this eye primer to those with very oily and/or hooded eyelids. Out of the 4 eye primers I have tried, I would rank them in this order (most effective to least effective): NARS > LORAC > Urban Decay > Too Faced.
