Cook a Thing

Um, does popcorn count?

The month of May I’m going to be kicking it with some old school blogging with Slightly Off Kilter and Food Good Laundry Bad. There is a topic for everyday and if you want to join in the fun feel free to visit their post and link up. Today’s prompt is cook a thing.

No really, does popcorn count as cook a thing? I’m going with yes! I’ve developed an addiction due to my perfecting movie theatre popcorn at home. It’s a problem and even worse you can find Orville Redenbacher popcorn kits. I’m sorry I told you that but it’s the best hands down.
Last year during Christmas our room mom wanted me to make some popcorn balls. In order to complete this task it was important to find a popcorn popper. Insert Presto electric popcorn popper to the rescue. It’s the most awesome tool in my snack tool box and my worst enemy because of what salt does to my body. Again, it’s a problem but it’s super easy to make. Check this out!
Equipment: Presto Stirring Popper (found mine at Wal-Mart)
Supplies: popcorn kernels, popcorn salt, popcorn oil (or any type of oil that you can use to pop popcorn).
First you plug in your popper and it will begin spinning and heating up immediately (be very careful and tell your little people not to touch!). Pour your kernels in, usually 1/2 a cup and add your oil. The measurements for oil varies which is a bit annoying so check your label! Add your popcorn salt and that can vary too so opt for less and you can always add more once it’s finished popping. Next you will put the lid on and wait for those last few kernels to pop and then unplug your machine.
Be careful it is hot! Next you will put the lid that on the top and then you flip the entire popper upside down and then remove the bottom portion of your popper and set it to the side. Pick a safe place to store the bottom half because you want to give it time to cool down.
And there you have it, but if you buy the kit cut the package pour and your done. It’s really good. I’m actually going to put it away now because of my new popcorn addiction.
Are you a popcorn lover too? What did you cook up for your post? Let me know in the comments!
