My little mini break to Andalusia in southern Spain last month may have been my 4th time in the region but I still hadn’t ticked off visiting the quintessentially Spanish coastal town of San José. (cue singing the Dionne Warwick song in your head…) I couldn’t wait to wander around the cute cacti-lined paths and catch glimpses of the sea between quaint white houses.
Luckily, after a long drive down the mountains and through the endless Cabo de Gata nature reserve, those dreamy sights were just what we got. After cooing over a cute old doggy and stopping at every front door dreaming of owning my own sugar cube house, the sky opened and down plopped the rain.
Before we had time to run away, an astonishing flood of orange light spread over the mountains ahead and two rainbows appeared over the sea – absolutely jaw-danglingly beautiful! San José gives you more than you ask for, it’s a pretty enchanting place!
