As I mentioned in the
last post, we spent a long weekend in Portland last week and it was pretty amazing. The first day was mainly spent walking around and checking out the waterfront and Pearl District, so we decided to dedicate the second day to shopping. It is the land of no taxes after-all! Also, it was Ollie's bday weekend, so his mom and I had to spoil him a bit. We hit the major spots in the downtown area and then a nice server directed us to NW 23rd Ave, where it turned out was the cutest neighborhood ever. I don't think we would have found this area without her suggestion, so it just goes to show -- always ask a local's advice! We found that there were so many beautiful surprises in this city -- you can turn a corner and suddenly you stumble across a beautiful floral display that is actually a bunch of individual little potted plants, or a beautiful neighborhood that is so charming with gorgeous tree-lined streets and apparently the best ice cream ever (where the line was too long for us to even consider). I would have loved to spend more time here to discover more of what the city has to offer, but hopefully we'll have the chance again soon!
