Prosecco Recipes

When it comes to trying a new type of drink (alcoholic or not), I’m usually game. As I’ve gotten older and more “mature”, I’ve found that my taste tends to gravitate towards wine and margaritas rather than the good ol’ days of beer and vodka sodas. Oddly enough, I hadn’t had the opportunity to try prosecco until recently.

Prosecco is a type of sparkling wine that is made from the white grape, Glera. I find that it’s actually milder than wine but still has the fun bubbles of champagne, which makes it the perfect mix. It also isn’t too overpowering, so you can easily eat it with most foods (can you say “wine & cheese party?”) It’s commonly thought that in order to experience a luxurious experience with wine you have to spend a lot of money. At approximately $17 per bottle, La Marca Prosecco is a great alternative to higher-priced champagne or sparkling wines.

I enjoyed a glass by itself and then had another later mixed with some grapefruit juice and mint. Here are a few fun recipes that are easy to make using prosecco. These will come in handy for your next dinner party or when guests arrive unexpectedly.

As I mentioned above, I really enjoyed the combination of sour grapefruit and the mint. I’m a big fan of drinks with mint in them (mojitos FTW), and the acidity in the grapefruit juice helped balance that out. For a traditional take on a fun summer drink, pair your prosecco with lemon juice and fresh raspberries. Or if you’re looking for a dessert option, add some vanilla ice cream and fresh muddled strawberries.
