Mama Reads Monday – Time Outs, Fathers, Rebellion, and MORE!

Mama Reads Monday Link Party – Sept. 15

I’m always coming across interesting and inspiring reads that I want to share with all of you. So I thought it was time to start; each Monday! Here are my favorite reads from this past week for you to find some encouragement during your mama time. (And if you have any interest or inspiring articles from your blog to share – scroll on down and add them to the link party below!)

This Week’s Favorite Mama Reads:

  • Why I Gave Up Time OutSomething to think about: “If I want to get at their heart, my goal is to give more logical consequences, followed up with a good conversation about their choices.”
  • 22 Ways Having Three Kids is Different Than Having TwoI can SO relate to this post: “TRIPLE RELATIONSHIPS. No one ever seems to discuss this, but it’s a biggie. When you have two children, there is one relationship between them. One. Easy peasy! When you have three children, it doesn’t just double—it sails right over to three. (Count ‘em. We’ll wait.) That’s three dyads going at any one time; three intricate emotional terrains; three possible grudges; three possible prank wars; three possible fisticuffs; three possible long, drawn-out retaliations after any one person deliberately farted on one other person’s science project.”
  • Why I Don’t Use the Word NaughtyGood point! “…my children aren’t naughty. They are little people learning to navigate the world and regulate their emotions and behaviours. Sometimes they make mistakes, and that is ok. Even adults still make mistakes. I see absolutely no need for name calling.”
  • How A Father LooksSo so sweet. “I prefer to look at fatherhood as a lens rather than a look or an age. Every dad cares for his children with his own style of love and ferocity. Some of the greatest, most engaged fathers I know look nothing alike. That’s the beauty of this joyous and jumbled experience.”
  • Why I’m Encouraging My Kids to Rebel - Interesting perspective: “The world encourages — no, even celebrates — doing the wrong thing. In fact, everywhere you look, we’re told, ‘Do whateveryou want. Your needs and desires are always most important.’ In today’s world, being a young man or woman of godly character, would be a bold, courageous act of rebellion. So, I’m appealing to my kids’ independent streak (they both have a generous one) and am encouraging them to shake things up.”
  • Don’t Try and Be the Mum You’re NotYES! “There will be other people who cross my children’s life path that will also share with them in their own special way. I don’t need to be everything for my kids, I need to love them, be there for them, encourage them and be myself with them. I believe it’s a beautiful thing to share yourself, and live life along side your child.”
