Family Weekend

Why do all good things have to come to an end?!

My parents and little brother were in town all weekend and I never wanted the weekend to end!

They arrived Saturday afternoon, just in time to enjoy the amazing weather and watch the Blues game on the patio.

Our dinner Saturday night was marvelous. BBQ’d chicken, grilled asparagus, twice-baked potatoes and a salad. I’m still drooling.

Sara’s sisters came in town too so we had the whole crew over to play the infamous horse game. Kevin won! I lost. “What’s mine is yours” worked out pretty well this time around.

Kevin’s mom and sister came down on Sunday so we could celebrate his mom’s birthday, my dad’s birthday and Sara’s sister, Molly’s birthday, at our favorite local Mexican joint, El Torazo.

Doesn’t get any better than this: margaritas, Mexican food and family!

Apparently on Sunday nights, El Torazo brings in a musician to play. We thoroughly enjoyed the Macarena…after a few margs.

We’ll go ahead and skip the pictures of the birthday dessert and shots, but two waiters came up behind my dad and Kevin’s mom and forced a tequila shot down their throats. It. was. hilarious. Best thing I’ve ever seen! I’m still laughing. (Molly got a delicious fried ice cream!)

We celebrated the three birthdays with homemade cheesecake (recipe coming soon!).

We also had plenty of pup cuddling time! Nala actually acted like she enjoyed Gracie’s presence.

Kevin and I took Monday off work to show my parents around town a bit. My dad found Against the Grain brewery downtown and took us there for lunch. The beer was just okay, but the food was delicious!

We got an order of their nachos and wings to split and practically licked our plates clean.

Last night, we had the best dinner ever at home. I swear, when my mom and dad come to town, I don’t even go in our kitchen. They take over and we love it! They made chicken/veggie and steak/veggie kabobs with homemade honey mustard sauce. I probably gained 10 lbs. this weekend alone.

It was such a fantastic weekend and I hated all day today because we’re all back to reality. I do suppose all good things must come to an end!
