Eating and Drinking through St. Louis

Kevin and I just got back from a great weekend in St. Louis! We ate a lot, drank a lot and spent a whole lot of time with family. It was pretty much a fantastic weekend. Here’s what we did, in a few snapshots:

I got to cross the new Stan the Man bridge! Pretty nifty.

We walked in the door and were greeted with a new-to-us beer my mom picked up. Fort Collins, you know what’s up.

Kev and I spent our Friday off at one of my favorite local places, Ferguson Brewery, for lunch and basketball.

I enjoyed the St. Louis Pale Ale and french dip sandwich (their buffalo chicken pizza and wings are great here too).

Kevin is Catholic and because they don’t eat meat on Fridays during Lent, my parents cooked up a seafood feast for us to enjoy.

On Saturday, we went to breakfast with my cousins, and lunch with my grandparents and aunt. (I told you all we did was eat, drink and spend time with family.)

We went to Seamus McDaniel’s for lunch, one of my absolute favorite restaurants in the St. Louis area. Seamus holds the record for the World’s Best Ranch Dressing (according to me) and it certainly didn’t disappoint this time. When you go, do yourself a favor and split a large Seamus salad (with ranch, of course) and Seamus cheeseburger (with fries to dip in the ranch, of course) with a friend. You will call my cell phone and thank me as soon as you finish your last bite.

This is how you do it…

Because we didn’t eat enough already that day, my parents made their version of Casa Gallardo’s famous beef and pork chimichangas for dinner. With margaritas.

And then my mom put us out of our misery and made homemade sopapillas with honey, cinnamon and vanilla ice cream. JUST like Casa!

I died and went to Mexican-food heaven.

One of the reasons why we went to St. Louis, other than to eat, drink and visit family, was because Kevin got tickets to the NCAA basketball games on Sunday! We watched Kansas lose (HA HA HA) and the Kentucky vs. Wichita State game, which unfortunately didn’t have the outcome that we wanted. Regardless, both games were incredibly exciting and even though I’m not the biggest basketball fan, I had a really good time (perhaps it was the nachos…).

I wore my Mizzou shirt because Kevin instructed me to wear yellow in support of Wichita State. I also wanted everyone in Scottrade to know that I was in no way, shape or form rooting for Kansas.

When we got back to Louisville, we dropped my bags and put on our running shoes because we did nothing but eat and drink for three days straight. More on this whole exercise thing later, but that run felt goooooooooooood!

I better get going…I need to pick out an outfit of Kevin’s that is appropriate for work tomorrow since my clothes will probably not fit after this weekend.

(PS if there are 1500 typos in this, or any post for that matter, I sincerely apologize. I write all day long for work and use this blog as a creative outlet, meaning I rarely spend time proofing. Except I did notice that I spelled “strate” instead of “straight” above and I’ve never been more embarrassed and happy for catching that one. Ha!)
