Target or Bust

Hola! We’re one day closer to Friday, and that deserves a celebration in and of itself. Have I mentioned I love weekends?

Today I needed to get out of the office. I rarely leave work and go somewhere to lunch (I usually eat through lunch at my desk), but today I needed a mini break. I had to go to the Post Office anyways and get some stamps, and figured I’d run into Target to grab some things I’ve been meaning to pick up.

I’m pretty proud of myself because ever since I graduated college, got my first real job and moved in with Kevin, I have been pretty good about saving money. We’re full into Operation Pay Off Student Loans, so Target trips are far and few between. In high school and college, I used to go to Target way too often and drop anywhere between $20-$80 on mostly crap. Shoes, clothes, nail polish, things I didn’t need. That all stopped once I looked at the student loans we have to pay off and created a game plan to pay them off within the next couple of years. (Don’t worry, we’re throwing a party when we make our last payment and you’re all invited. You think I’m kidding.)

Anywho, back to Target. Even though I didn’t buy a whole lot and stuck to my list, browsing through the aisles and getting away from work for a bit helped clear my head and feel a lot more refreshed.

I was so tempted to buy Frozen, aka the best Disney animated movie since like…well…The Lion King. It’s a classic, that’s for sure. I resisted! I’m hoping it ends up in my Easter basket. (Hint hint) Wait, do I get Easter baskets at 25?

Next I ventured over to the outdoor area because I’m obsessed with the idea of warmth and evenings on our patio. I have so many ideas for things I want to do to our deck (right now we just have a table, four chairs and a grill), but there’s so much more potential! I adored this little bar set up. I want, I want!

And these chairs below? So comfy! I am also obsessed with the rug. And the fire pit.

And this umbrella was my absolute favorite. It was navy and striped. Two of my favorite things.

I couldn’t leave Target without looking at all of the clearance end caps and I almost crapped my pants when I saw this bargain. Women of the world, go to your nearest Target because this bar cart was $40. FORTY DOLLHAIRS. Originally $129. ONE TWENTY NINE. I’ll stop shouting now.

This bar cart looks like every bar cart we women have been pinning on Pinterest since it became super trendy. If Kev and I didn’t create our bar area out of two Ikea shelves for $20/each, I would have carried this thing home myself (because we know it wouldn’t have fit in my car).

Someone go buy it! Now!

Lastly, I arrived at what I originally went to Target to buy. Air filters. They had them on sale, buy two get one free. Clearly this was the least exciting item I looked at.

As I was making my way to the check out, with just the filters in hand (so proud of myself!), I saw these plates on an end cap. Well, how do I pass these cute little guys up?! They’re microwave safe, dishwasher safe, and $1.38 for two plates. Perfect camping plates. Bought, washed and already stashed with the rest of our camping gear!

Overall, I didn’t do too bad! I passed up Frozen, a lot of cute patio items and the best bargain on a bar cart I’ve ever seen. C’mon Official Student Loan Payoff Party!

I got home, finished up my work day which was super productive thanks to my little break. Sometimes I forget how helpful midday breaks are. Need to remember to do that more often!

After work, Kev and I took Grace for a little run/walk. I downloaded the Couch to 5K app to help me get ready for the Color Run in June. Kevin could go out and run a 5K right now, probably win the whole thing, and survive. I would die if I tried to run 3 miles. DIE. Literally, I am going from the couch to running a 5K. No judgement zone, people! Not ashamed.

(It was not 70 degrees today as I thought (ahem, Kevin), so this picture is to show you just how close we are to SHORTS WEATHER.)

Back to the app: I did Day 1 on Monday, took Tues. and Wed. off due to extreme cold (okay, 35 degrees is cold) and did Day 2 today. It was super easy (thank goodness!) and I’m excited to keep going.

We finished the run, made dinner together and I did a few small things around the house just in time to relax and get ready for Parenthood and Scandal! Woo Thursdays!
