Quick Trip to the Lou

Gracie, Kevin and I headed to St. Louis* this past weekend for a little visit with my family. Gracie turned three years old on Friday and my mom’s birthday was on Sunday – a perfect excuse for a visit!

I was still feeling under the weather when we got there, so my mom made me one of her famous Hot Toddy’s with Four Roses Bourbon (who happens to be a client). I think it worked!

On Saturday, we slept in and ate a big breakfast before checking out both Urban Chestnut Brewing Company locations! We checked out the original one and had a beer there…

…before heading to their newest location in the grove. I love the German atmosphere! We ordered their bratwurst plate which came with sauerkraut and German pasta salad. We couldn’t pass up their fries with garlic mayo and pretzels too. Highly recommended! So glad I got to check this place of my list.

We spent some time with my grandpa on Saturday night after the Rams preseason game. My dad made his famous pork steaks and we feasted on those. Gracie, now and old lady, was a party pooper and fell asleep on us sitting up. She just couldn’t handle the fun.

It was yet another great weekend in the Lou! Missing it and my family dearly already.

*Despite what’s going on in Ferguson, Missouri right now…minutes away from my parent’s house and the basically the neighborhood where I went to high school and worked as a lifeguard…I will refrain from posting about it here. I’m not ignoring the situation, just refraining from sharing personal opinions. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved. I just pray that the looting stops and the great town of Ferguson gets pieced back together.
