3 Holiday Makeup Looks

How is it that every time I (we?) host a party I end up with no makeup and messy hair? I have all these big dreams of being so prepared (ha ha HA) and looking all dazzling when the guests show up.

If only life were that easy, amiright?

However, there are some tips and tricks we can use for those holiday parties that are easy beautiful makeup looks. Then you can both dazzle with your hosting skills and your put togetherness!

3 Simple Holiday Makeup Looks

Gold and Cranberry

You guys know I have been loving these Burt’s Bees Lip Crayons. They are hard to not love. They go on smooth and thick but feel just like lip balm. The colors are what’s a ton of fun too!

At first I was only wearing this Redwood Forest with some plain eyeshadow but then I relaxed how fabulous it looked with some gold! This is the perfect holiday look because it’s simple and ten colors are perfect for the holidays. You can find the eye tutorial here.

The cat eye

I am a huge advocate for learning the cat eye. (It’s really important to advocate for good causes, people.) It is not nearly as intimidating as you think. Promise! The cat eye support group is here to help! Few things you need to know: as my friend Molly said – think of each eye as more of cousins than identical sisters. They probably won’t ever look exactly the same. And if they do, snap a picture of those babies and plaster that all over social media! The world needs to know!

The perfect color lip with a cat eye is – IMHO – bright red. It gives such a fun retro flair and takes a simple look into complete fabulousness. You can’t go wrong either. The Napa Vineyard Burt’s Bees crayon is my favorite. It’s a fabulous deep but vibrant red. Perfect for this look.

With the cat eye you don’t need a ton of shadow. Let the liner and the lip color steal the show! That’s why I love this look, it’s super simple but has such a big impact!

Smokey eye

Smokey eye seems intimidating, right? It’s not so bad. I have three tips for this one: blend, blend, blend! Use the darkest color you feel comfortable with in the outer corners. Add a complimenting color (maybe gold or silver) to the lid. Then add a light shadow to the inner corners of your eye and BAM, nailed it.

When you use dark colors on your eyes you need to leave the lips alone. However, you can’t put nothing on the lips because then they’d just look naked and like you forgot them. Instead, apply a nude color. It will be just enough to add something to your lips but not take away from the eyes. My favorite nude color (and the only one I use!) is Sedona Sands. It’s the perfect non-color.

I’ve written about these crayons before and I’ll do it again! I love them! They’ve replace some of my regular colors. They are smooth as butta and last quite a while. I know some of you are Burt’s Bees fans from Facebook and I’m glad you guys mentioned how much you love them!

Oh, and I couldn’t believe it, but these babies are only $9. YEP. You read that right – NINE. I have spent upwards of $20 on lipsticks before and after trying them at first I thought for sure they’d be up there with the most expensive ones. Imagine my shock at that price tag!

You can find them all here.

So tell me, what makeup look are you going to try for your next party?

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Burt’s Bees. The opinions and text are all mine.
