Cinque Terre by Sea

There are a few ways to explore Cinque Terre. You can either hike, drive, take the rail between towns, or hop on a boat like I did. Of course, each experience is totally different and person-dependent. As for me, the life out in the open waters is clearly the best choice. We departed from the dock in Levanto and sailed along the coast before hopping off in one of the five villages, Riomaggiore. The other four towns are Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, and Manarola. One can really appreciate the beauty of these coastal fishing villages from this vantage point, as each town looks incredible, embedded and tucked away within the green hills.

While in Riomaggiore, we hiked up to the top for a different perspective (as seen below). Eventually, after catching our breathe, we made our way back down to the main street and explored. At the end of the day, our hotel in Levanto was a quick rail ride away. It’s the same light rail that connects the rest of the five towns, as well. Though ours was a short and sweet day trip, I can’t wait to come back for more.
