Many, Many Mimosas

Meeting with family or friends for brunch is one of our favorite ways to celebrate, enjoy the weekend, or simply catch up over a truly delicious meal. Since no brunch is ever complete without a mimosa, we thought we'd explore the various versions of mimosas we could create next time we entertain. If you're also a lady who loves to brunch, here are some of our favorite mimosa ideas!

Classic: Simply combine orange juice and champagne. The ratio is up to you, but we suggest starting with 1 part champagne and 1 part juice. If you'd rather have your champagne with a splash of juice, we won't judge!

Hawaiian: The POG (passion, orange, guava) mimosa is an exotic alternative to one made with traditional orange juice. This tropical blend is hard to find, but if you can get a bottle or make your own blend, it's well worth it!

Strawberry: Add a whole strawberry or a few strawberry slices to your champagne to infuse the bubbly with a berry flavor. You can also look for strawberry puree or add a hint of strawberry syrup to your glass to sweeten your drink.

Sherbert: Instead of using juice, just add a scoop of orange sorbet to your glass, then fill up the rest of it with your champagne. Dessert and a drink in one!

Spiked: Try creating a champagne cocktail by adding liquor, like St. Germain, Grand Marnier, or Limoncello, to the bottom of your glass. For an even fancier touch, add a splash of peach nectar or cranberry juice along with the liquor.

Before you decide on your recipe of choice, keep in mind these important tips. Whenever you can, use fresh ingredients -- there's nothing like a mimosa made with freshly-squeezed orange juice instead of over-pasteurized, store-bought juice. If you're in a bind and need to buy orange juice off the shelf, look for a brand that bottles the OJ in a purer state.

It's also important to serve your mimosas as cold as possible. Make sure you give the champagne ample time to chill and refrigerate your fresh juice once you've prepared it until it's time to serve the drinks. Since mimosas are meant to be sipped, starting with a truly cold drink will give guests time to savor their mimosa while chatting with others and enjoying the meal.
