It's Lacroix, Sweetie {Birthday Party OOTD}

Outfit: Dress - fabric from Standfast & Barracks, Belt & Earrings - Forever New, Shoes - Zoom, Satchel - Accessorize, Sunglasses - Quay Eyewear I think that this might just be my favourite outfit post so far and this dress is undoubtedly in my top 5 dresses and currently vying for the top slot with this one. One of the reasons that I love this dress so much is because it's Christian Lacroix for Designer's Guild which I bought at Standfast & Barracks in Lancaster in September. When I wear this dress, I feel just like Eddie in Absolutely Fabulous and have been known to run around crying out, "
It's Lacroix, Sweetie". Best thing ever.

I made the dress with the idea of a modern take on a classic 1950's dress and I am so delighted with how it turned out. It is definitely the hardest thing I've ever made before, those pleats and darts were tough! The fabric is called Souvenir and is filled with homages to Paris, roses, Lacroix himself and even some references to English culture all on a pinboard. To me it perfectly encapsulates where I am in my life and the next part of my life in England, so I decided to wear it for my 24th birthday party held at the San Deck in Sandton.

I may never own a clothing piece directly from Christian Lacroix, but this dress with the story behind making it and what it means to me personally, makes it even more special than a designer piece.
