Love Lincoln: Coffee Aroma

Hello! I feel like I’m finally coming down to earth and can give this blog the attention it deserves! The last month has been incredibly difficult for a number of reasons, some of which I can’t yet write about here but I hope I will be able to share about later on. I’ve really battled with month three of the move, partly because the novelty has worn off and the reality of establishing myself in a new country has taken a bit of a toll. But this week I feel like I’ve had a breakthrough and I’m feeling inspired and invigorated again. So much so that I’m launching a new series on the blog called ‘Love Lincoln’ with the aim of showing off this sleepy little city which I call home.
The number one question people ask me when they realise that I am South African, is ‘Why Lincoln?’. Yes it’s an unusual choice and I’ve asked myself that question a fair few times. But this city has a lot going on and I plan on sharing that with people and if in the process this series helps me fall in love with this place some more, then it’s a job well done!
So with that, here’s Coffee Aroma, my new favourite hidey hole, just off of the high street. I visited it with a friend from work (yes, I’m making friends!) for a quick cup of coffee before we hit the high street.

Coffee Aroma is in the top 10 best coffee places in the whole of the United Kingdom. It’s intimate and unassuming and walking in, I instantly felt relaxed and welcome. It reminded me of some of my favourite coffee places like Quills in Lousiville and Bean There Coffee in Johannesburg, and which I found incredibly comforting especially when so much of Lincoln is still foreign.
I ordered a cafe latte and I was delighted with the level of detail that went into the presentation of the my drink, not to mention the thoughtfulness of providing a glass of water on my tray as well.We took our drinks upstairs and sat in a room filled with books, games and couches overlooking the street. It’s the kind of place that you can spend all day reading and drinking coffee while hiding away from the rain.

And the coffee? Delicious and true to the 'Artisan coffee' tag.

Coffee Aroma is definitely worth a visit and will undoubtedly be my coffee place of choice.
