Stand Up 2 Cancer on Yahoo Live

Amidst all the commotion of Fashion Week on the east coast and Toronto Film Festival, stars still turned out for a very special Stand Up 2 Cancer concert at the Dolby theatre in Hollywood on Friday Sept. 5. Celebrities inlcuding Chicago’s own Jennifer Hudson, SU2C co-founder Katie Couric who put on a brave face one day after announcing her mother passed, Hailee Steinfeld, Kerry Washington, Pierce Brosnan, Jordana Brewster, Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Angie Harmon, Tony Goldwyn, Joe Manganiello, Jon Hamm, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Josh Gad were all in attendance and their call to action which aired on all the major networks and online at Yahoo Live, helped urge viewers to donate. Donate they did, because the fundraiser raised $109 million.

The hour long concert for the 4th Biennial program, airing on Yahoo Live, began with an olympic torch relay by Melissa McCarthy handing off to Steve Carrell who handed to Eric Stonestreet lighting the stage to begin the show. Featured performances by Dave Matthews and Ariana Grande concluded with Chicagoans Lupe Fiasco, Common, and Jennifer Hudson performing the new track “Remission”.
