Fusion Ink Foundation

I jumped on this as soon as I saw it available online. Unfortunately, finding swatches online has been really hard. I came up with only a handful of posts, and not all were close to my skin tone. The first shade I chose, BD 20 Warm Ivory, was too light (I would swear it got a touch lighter when it dried). Luckily I was able to exchange it in store (they had some in the back that they hadn’t put out yet) for a BD 40 Warm Sand which turned out to be my perfect shade. I did get pics and swatches of both, since I am usually pretty good about getting pics before testing.

This foundation has some hefty claims. It boasts 24 hour wear (who does that?!), feels weightless, soft matte finish, sets fast, isn’t heavy or cakey, and holds up to sweating and humidity. That’s a lot to live up to.

I will start with the packaging, that is very sleek. It comes in a glass bottle, and it has a clear window so you can see the foundation shade as well as how much product you have left. The square lid pulls off, and there is a small round lid on the inside. If you have ever used a Chanel polish it is like that. There is no pump, and I really wish it had one. Instead, there is a wand that dips down into the bottle to get product. The foundation is thin, so you can drop the foundation onto a clear dish or the back of your hand and not risk contamination. Still, a pump is more ideal.

They were not kidding about the weightless formula. I can’t feel it at all, and my face still feels like my face when I touch it. Despite this being a very runny, thin consistency it has good coverage that you can build up to full without it looking heavy or cakey. They weren’t lying about that. It sets fast, and I found the best way to apply is with fingers. Brushes and sponges soak this up like crazy, and at $60 per bottle you don’t want to be running through bottle after bottle. Blending with fingers or a wet sponge (after applying with fingers) got me the best coverage and finish using the least amount of product. This dries really fast, so you have to work fast in small areas. The finish is a soft matte and looks very natural. If you want to see it on the skin, I have worn it in recent looks such as the ones in my MAC The Simpsons review.

I got all day wear from this, except for on my nose. My nose is kryptonite to every foundation I have ever tried. Powdering my nose helps, but it is the oiliest spot on my face and while this foundation really hung in there for several hours it couldn’t make it all day on my nose. Because of its long wearing ability it can be a tad drying to the dry areas of my face, so I make sure to moisturize those areas well before I apply. My hunch is that this is not the foundation for dry skin.

Honestly, I love this foundation. I know it costs an arm and a leg, but it looks so beautiful on the skin and wears really well. I love how it looks, and it is now my new go to foundation. If it could last on my nose it would be a holy grail foundation for me. I am going to try some mattifying lotion with this, and if that solves my nose oil problem I will update you all to let you know you need this foundation like yesterday.
