Open House and Happy Hour This Wednesday at the Baltimore ToolBank in Pigtown

Baltimore ToolBank Release:

Domestic Disaster Response Unit at Baltimore Community ToolBank

BALTIMORE, MD November 25th — At its headquarters, from 9am to 8pm on Wednesday, December 3rd , Baltimore Community ToolBank will host ToolBank USA’s mobile Disaster Relief Services unit for an Open House and regular tours as well as a happy hour from 4-8pm.

This impressive 50’ trailer houses hundreds of tools for deployment and use in domestic disaster zones. Launched in January 2014, the unit has deployed thrice to Arkansas, Nebraska and Michigan, respectively. In each deployment, the unit provided sharp and ready tools for use by volunteers to give relief to regions devastated by tornadoes and floods. From clearing of debris in the immediate aftermath of a disaster to cleanup efforts that last for months, the unit helps respond to critical community needs in times of crisis.

The ToolBank USA Disaster Relief Services unit and staff will be in Baltimore for a “blue sky” (non-emergency) deployment to raise awareness about its work to provide relief throughout the continental US and shine a light on the work of the local ToolBank affiliate in Baltimore.

With growing domestic challenges due to volatile weather, the need for a ready response grows every year. This need for critical tools in disaster relief zones led to the organic creation of the Disaster Services mobile unit under the umbrella of ToolBank USA.
