Fuel your star athlete with delicious products from Honey Maid

My family and I have watched it here and there. I rather play soccer than watch soccer.

I used to play soccer when I was younger. I was the goalie. I think that is because I was bigger than most of the other girls and therefore more “menacing” looking. I’m pictured above – the unhappy looking one on the left in the back.

I loved playing soccer. My mom forced me to play softball too but soccer was my “love”. I played it for four years and enjoyed each and every moment of it. Of course we didn’t play like they do at the World Cup. Those players do some amazing things and they are fast.

One thing that was a must at all practices and games was plenty of water and snacks. We needed to keep hydrated and fueled.

Whenever possible my mom and the other team moms and dads would bring snacks for all the kids. Fresh fruits (especially watermelon) were always great as well as veggies like baby carrots. As yummy as they were they were not always convenient. They had to be kept cold and as you know fruits can get very sticky and no one wants fruit juice all over their hands or uniform.

The best kinds of snacks are those that are non-perishable and are easy to tuck inside a duffle bag or tote bag.

One of my all time favorite snacks when I played soccer was Honey Maid Graham Crackers with peanut butter. Mmmm!!! I still enjoy them as a snack today.

I love that they are available in different flavors. The cinnamon flavor is my favorite.

I have a funny story about Honey Maid Teddy Grahams. Many years ago (about 20 years ago) I was getting together with friends for the holidays. I baked a sheet cake and decorated it to look like the woods in the winter. I covered sugar cones in frosting and decorated them to look like Christmas trees. I also added a piece of foil to the center to look like a lake that had iced over. I also took several Teddy Grahams and decorated them with cake icing to look like mini-ice skaters and used them to decorate the cake. I put A LOT of work into the cake and I thought it looked great (as did my friends).

I had the cake on my friend’s counter top, near the sink. Someone washed their hands in the sink and accidentally hit the florescent light above the sink and it fell down and crashed into the sink. Shards of glass went everywhere – including all over my cake! Needless to say no one ever had the chance to enjoy the cake.

Honey Maid Teddy Grahams have come a long way since then. I think there were only two flavors to my recollection. These days Teddy Grahams are available in flavors like Mixed Berry, Strawberry Banana and Apple as well as Honey, Chocolate and my favorite, Chocolate Chip.

Teddy Grahams are a good source of iron, calcium and zinc and contain 8 grams of whole grains per serving. They are also low in saturated fats and don’t contain any cholesterol. You can feel good about feeding your future World Cup MPV these yummy snacks.
