Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in theaters and RealD 3D August 8, 2014

COWABUNGA! Have you heard the news? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming to a theater near you in RealD 3D on August 8, 2014.

It’s interesting that the Turtles are just as popular today as they were 2o years ago. They were around when I graduated high school (now I’m dating myself!). They have come a long way over the years too. They still remain true to their characters but their looks have changed a bit. Especially the turtles featured in the upcoming film. They have more a more human-like look to them.

There are four main characters in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise – Leonardo (Leo), Michelangelo (Mike/Mikey), Donatello (Don/Donnie) and Raphael (Ralph). Each one has his own personality too.

Leonardo – He is the leader of the group and the more mature brother. His weapon of choice is the razor sharp katanas which can slice through anything. Leo wears the blue mask.

Michelangelo – Mike is more free spirited then his brothers. He’s the least mature of his brothers. He’s very much a jokester. He really loves pizza too (all the turtles are fond of pizza). Mike wears the orange mask.

Donatello – He’s the creative genius of the group. He’s crafty and great at techie things. He would rather use his brains then get into physical conflicts. He sports the purple mask.

Raphael – He’s the most aggressive brother. He is very strong and is also very sarcastic by nature. He is the brother in the red mask.

I find it interesting that they were all named after famous artists. I wish I knew why the creators, Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, opted for those unique names. After all it’s not every day you bump into someone name Donatello or Michelangelo.

The new film propels the turtles in our modern world. It’s produced by Michael Bay who is responsible for the blockbuster Transformers series so you know this film is going to be overflowing with action and excitement.

Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles stars Megan Fox and Will Arnett. I would never expect to see Megan Fox in a film like this. In addition the film stars William Fichtner, K. Todd Freeman, Danny Woodburn, Noel Fisher, Jeremy Howard, Pete Ploszek, Alan Ritchson and Minae Noji.

Here is the film’s synopsis and trailer for your enjoyment.

The city needs heroes. Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must work with fearless reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) and her wise-cracking cameraman Vern Fenwick (Will Arnett) to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.

The film is rated PG-13.

I am pretty sure there are going to be a whole new generation of Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtle lovers after this movie is released.

If your child or grandchild becomes a huge fan of the film please don’t rush out and buy a real life turtle. Sometimes when movies come out it prompts people to buy pets based on the film (like Dalmatian puppies when 101 Dalmatians came out). Turtles are wonderful pets but they are a lot of work and expensive. Not to mention they carry diseases that can be harmful. Instead of buying a real turtle who doesn’t have bad a$$ ninja or likes to eat pizza, consider buying the action figures instead. I’m pretty sure there will be plenty of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures and toys released when the film comes out.

If you would like to learn more about the movie please visit www.TeenageMutantNinjaTurtlesMovie.com. You can also check out the film on the various social media sites – Facebook, Twitter and Tumblr. The official hashtag is #TMNTMovie.

Check out this fun “TMNT Yourself” app too – TMNT Yourself. You can upload a photo of yourself and turn yourself into a Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtle. I did one for myself.

LOL!

What do you think about the new film? Do you think you’ll check it out when it arrives in theaters? Feel free to share your thoughts.
