Make yourself feel better from your feet up with Juil “Earthing” sandals

Are you a “shoe person”? Do you find that you need to have several pairs of shoes in different colors and styles for every season? Do you like to match your shoes to your purse and/or your outfit?

I’m not much of a shoe person. Don’t get me wrong – I DO enjoy shoes. I have some really nice shoes that I wear on a regular basis. What I mean by not being much of a shoe person is that I would rather be barefoot.

I grew up in the country and I rarely wore shoes. I would be barefoot all the time. I would even play in the woods and ride my bike barefoot. Did get plenty of cuts, splinters and bee stings but I didn’t mind. I’d get some quick first aid done and head out the door again – barefoot!

Even now as an adult the first thing I do when I walk in the door is take off my shoes. I can’t wait to get my shoes off. I am much happier barefoot.

I love the way it feels to feel the grass between your toes and the Earth beneath my feet. I feel more in touch and connected to nature that way.

Have you ever heard of “Earthing”? I recently learned about it and I really like the concept.

In our everyday lives, we’re exposed to toxins and stress. Toxins include anything from breathing polluted air, to carrying our cell phones around. Stress can come from anywhere – work, school, friends, or family. Exposure to these stresses and toxins leads to a buildup of free radicals in our bodies. These free radicals attack healthy cells and cause inflammation, which by the way, is the root of almost all medical ailments. Fortunately, we have the Earth, a giant magnet with an endless supply of electrons. If we stay connected by being outside barefoot, these electrons are absorbed to neutralize and release the harmful free radicals in our bodies.

The short version – Studies have shown that maintaining a direct connection between our bodies and the Earth’s surface is beneficial to our health.

While the easiest way to stay grounded is to walk barefoot, that’s not always possible, fashionable, or appropriate. Most footwear has rubber or plastic outsoles that insulate our bodies from making a connection with the earth.

There are shoes you can wear that help you with Earthing. They are by a company called Juil. Juil shoes contain several small copper dots on the shoes that act as a conduit and allow you to stay truly connected and balanced.

Juil shoes make you feel better. They help to cleanse your body of stress and toxins, letting you live a healthier, more balanced life. They’re not only comfortable, but they recreate that calming feeling that you’ve come to associate with walking barefoot.

Juil has only been around for a couple of years, but the growth and passion for improving the lives of our customers is just beginning. The company is made up of yogis, footwear experts, and fashion-minded designers all of whom are working together to help better your every step.

Juil shoes sound like they were made especially for me – someone who prefers to be barefoot. I don’t know about all the scientific stuff but I do know the feeling of grass beneath my feet does make me feel happy.

Juil sent me a pair of shoes to review. I received a pair of their Dallie sandals in black. Unfortunately for me they didn’t fit my feet (my feet are too wide). Luckily my daughter wears the same size shoes as me (her foot is regular – not wide). She was able to wear the shoes. In fact she loves them and is planning on wearing them on her first day back to school.

I tried to explain the whole “Earthing” thing to her but she really didn’t “get it”. So I just asked her to wear the shoes and let me know what she thought of them.

According to my daughter…

  • The shoes are comfortable.
  • She loves how they look.
  • They match with just about everything she owns.
  • She loves the little “lace part” (as she calls it). She says it makes the sandals look a bit “dressy”.

I asked her if she felt any different wearing the shoes – for example more energized? She tells me that she doesn’t really notice that but she said she could walk in them all day because they feel great on her feet. I don’t know if that is “Earthing” or just the fact that she loves the shoes and they are super comfy to wear.

I’m rather sad that I can’t fit them. They look really nice.

For the record my daughter was in one of her teenage “moods” and didn’t want to pose for pictures wearing the shoes so I had to use photos from the Juil website. When I can get her to cooperate I’ll swap out the photos on this post for personal photos. Teenagers… gotta love ‘em. LOL!

I’ve read reviews/comments left by others on the Juil website on the various shoes they sell. All the reviews I read were positive. People really love these shoes.

I really like the idea of “Earthing” and I plan on doing some more research about it. I know that copper does have conductive properties, so it would appear that Juil came up with an ingenious shoe. If you have to wear shoes you might as well wear shoes that “connect” you with the Earth and all it’s wonderful properties.

If you would like to learn more about Juil and check out their beautiful shoes (for both women AND men!) visit www.Juil.com. You can also find them on the various social media sites (all the links are found at the bottom of their website).

What do you think about these shoes? Have you heart of “Earthing” before? Do you enjoy being barefoot? Feel free to share your thoughts.
