The Sisterhood: Becoming Nuns premieres on Lifetime on November 25, 2014 at 10:00 PM (EST) / 9:00 PM (CST)

I am not catholic, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t respect priests and nuns. In fact I am very impressed by them. I could not imagine giving up everything to serve God.

As odd as it sounds I am fascinated by that sacred world. Most people don’t get to see what goes on “behind the scenes” and the process one must go through in order to become a full fledged nun. I’m pretty sure it’s NOT like it appears in the film The Sound of Music.

A new series premiering on Lifetime explores the lives of five young women and their decision to join the sisterhood of nuns. The series is appropriately called The Sisterhood: Becoming Nuns. It airs on Lifetime on November 25, 2014 at 10:00 PM (EST) / 9:00 PM (CST).

The all-new groundbreaking Lifetime® seriesThe Sisterhood (#Sisterhood) follows five young women who are considering the life-changing decision of taking religious vows to become Catholic nuns. For the first time ever, cameras were granted access to three convents* where the women live and work together alongside nuns during the discernment phase, the process wherein they decide if they want to formally continue on their holy path.

In observance of the sacred vows of chastity, poverty and obedience, they leave behind everything they have come to love – boyfriends, family members and all their worldly possessions – to see if they have what it takes to become servants of the church and brides of Christ.

There are five young women in this series. Who will join the sisterhood and who will have second thoughts?

Christie, 27, from Glendale, California, likes to rock out with her country music band while still following all the traditional tenets of the church.

Claire, 26, a parish music minister from Joliet, Illinois, was homeschooled throughout her childhood in a devout Catholic home.

Eseni, 23, a former beauty queen and aspiring model from the Bronx, rebelled against the church as a teen but has returned to Catholicism in search of her true calling.

Francesca, 21, is a recent graduate and die-hard believer from New Jersey who struggles with church positions on hot-button issues.

Stacey, 26, is a lifelong Catholic who lives in New York and has traveled throughout the country, performing in musical theater.

None of these ladies strike me as being a typical “candidate” for the sisterhood. It will be interesting to see how their stories unfold as they spend six weeks at a convent.

I’m looking forward to getting an inside peek at a convent too. So little is known about what goes on behind those closed doors.

Here is a sneak peek at the series.
