Get More for a Dollar Challenge with NIVEA Creme

The woods across from where I live.

I don’t mind the cold or the snow (UNLESS I have to drive in the snow or shovel it). I think Winter, at times, can be beautiful. I love it when the trees are coated with freshly fallen snow and there is a peacefulness in the air. What destroys that image is the yucky, dark snow you find on the side of the road and the rock salt that manages to find it’s way to our carpet.

If there is one thing I dislike about the cold weather months is the damage it does to my skin. My skin gets dried out and cracks so bad it bleeds at times. I am also prone to Eczema outbreaks. They happen a lot when my skin dries out. I guess it’s the cracks that lets in the bacteria or whatever causes the Eczema.

I am never without something of a moisturizer whether if it’s for my hands, skin, lips or face. I am always slathering something on my skin all Winter long.

I was recently contacted by NIVEA. They asked me to take part in their “Get More for a Dollar Challenge” with NIVEA Creme.

If you are not familiar with NIVEA Creme, here is a little more information.

NIVEA Creme has been trusted for over 100 years since its creation in 1911 to hydrate your family’s skin via a clinically proven formula of Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Eucerit — a unique moisturizing ingredient that helps your skin stay soft and supple all day long.

I grew up with NIVEA. My mom used the product. It looks pretty much the same way it did when I was a kid.

NIVEA sent me some jars of NIVEA Creme (the small tins you find in the store for around $1.00) and asked me to use it for a week, along with my family.

The very first way I chose to use NIVEA Creme is on my hands. My hands ALWAYS get super dry in the cold weather months. Since I work with children I am always washing my hands which causes them to feel dry all the time.

I kept the portable tin in my pocketbook so I had it handy when I was at work. Every time I washed my hands I would apply a little bit of the NIVEA Creme on my hands. A little bit goes a long way. If you apply too much your skin will feel greasy.

As soon as I apply the NIVEA Creme on my skin it instantly feels relieved. I can’t stand that dry, taught feeling you get when your hands lack moisture.

My fingers can be so dry that certain materials I won’t touch because I know they will “stick” to my dry skin. My fingertips sometimes feel like sandpaper. Since faithfully using the NIVEA Creme my fingertips are soft and smooth.

I also apply the NIVEA Creme on my hands at home and when I’m out and about running errands. Because I keep the tin in my pocketbook it’s with me all the time whenever I need it.

I never thought to apply the NIVEA Creme to cuticles.

I have one really bad habit – I bite my nails. I try to stop, and sometimes I succeed, but something always happens to stress me out and I bite my nails. Because of this my nails look horrible, including my cuticles. I’m actually embarrassed to have people see my hands because of this. After a week of applying the creme on my cuticles daily (I make sure to rub it in when I put NIVEA on my hands) my cuticles look a lot better. I also don’t have those pieces of skin that tear off from the cuticle area (those really painful ones).

Try heels are also a problem. My feet are not bad during the warm months, but once the temperature dips my feet dry out and I end up having split heels. They look so gross!

I used a neat device to remove dry skin from my heels (look for my review coming soon). Then I applied the NIVEA Creme to my feet. I did this every day just before going to bed. WOW! My feet look and feel great. I am very pleased with how they look. It’s like I have my “summer feet” again.

PLEASE NOTE the creme is a bit greasy so be sure to walk carefully when you put it on your feet so you don’t slip. I applied it when I was sitting in my bed so I didn’t have to walk around afterwards. By the time I got up in the morning the creme has absorbed into my skin and it’s not an issue anymore.

A little bit goes a long way.

NIVEA Creme is great for your entire body. I find it best to apply it when you step out of the shower when your skin is still moist. It helps the application to go more smoothly and it seems to make the creme absorb quicker.

NIVEA Creme is great for elbows (mine are “ashy”) and to sooth your legs after you shave them.

What I love about this creme is that you can apply as little or as much as you need and you can apply it to only specific spots. For example, I get random dry patches on my skin. Instead of slathering a lotion over the entire area I can simply dab a little of the creme on the specific spot and rub it in.

I also used the NIVEA Creme to remove waterproof mascara. I purchased waterproof mascara by accident (I personally don’t like the stuff). Rather then waste it I figured I’d use it for a month or so and then buy my regular mascara.

The reason why I don’t like waterproof mascara is because it’s so hard to get off.

My mom taught me to use NIVEA to remove make up. I simply dab a little on a damp wash cloth and GENTLY wipe it on my lashes until the mascara is removed. Then I dampen the other side of the washcloth and rinse off the excess NIVEA Creme. Take care NOT to get it in your eyes. I’m pretty sure that won’t be a comfortable experience.

A friend of mine told me she uses NIVEA Creme on her lips. I haven’t tried that yet. I have a feeling it won’t taste too good if you accidentally get it in your mouth.

I think it’s awesome that one tiny little tin of NIVEA Creme – which sells for around $1.00 – can do so much. Plus a little bit goes a long way. Even after a week I have a lot of the creme left.

Have you ever used NIVEA Creme before? What do you think about the product? In what ways do you use it?
