My mom holding my daughter (1997)

I’m a mom. It’s probably the hardest, yet most rewarding, job anyone could ever have. Who knew that you could love someone with every fiber of your being as you do your children.

You don’t have to give birth to a child to be a mom. I know that from experience. When I was around 18 months old my biological mother abandoned me. She literally moved all her things out of the apartment she shared with my biological father (they were married at the time) and left, leaving behind me and their dog. My father was in Japan at the time in the military.

When she left she called my paternal grandparents and told them to come and get me. They had concerns about her parenting skills to begin with and had offered to help care for me while my father was gone, but she refused. The last words she said was “If you want her come and get her.” (meaning me).

My paternal grandparents were thrusted back into being parents to a toddler. At the time their youngest (my aunt) was 8 years old.

My grandparents raised me while my father served his time in the military. By the time he came home I was calling them “mom” and “dad”. Since I was almost three years old at the time they felt it was best to let them continue to raise me as their child, so as not to confuse me. My biological father was only 19 at the time so they felt it was best since he had to get on his feet and was ill equipped to care for a toddler.

Since the day I came to live with my paternal grandparents they have been my mom and dad. They didn’t create me. My grandmother didn’t give birth to me. It didn’t matter. She was my mom and the only mom I have ever had for all I care. She took care of me when I was sick. She consoled me when I was broken-hearted. She helped me pick out my prom gown. She taught me how to cook and sew. She drove me to all my soccer game. She stayed up late at night with worry when I was out with friends. She was always there for me. That is what a mom is supposed to do, not abandon a child.

My beautiful children who I love more than anything (circa. 2000)

I’m a mom and I could never, ever just up and leave my children. They are my world. They mean everything to me. Just like my mom, I am always there for them – 24/7.

Garth Brooks has a new song out called “Mom” which is a touching tribute to moms every where.

I heard the song when he performed it on the Ellen Show. It not only brought tears to Ellen’s eyes, but also the audience and myself. It’s an amazing song.

“Mom” is a song about a conversation between an unborn baby and God. He’s afraid to be brought down from heaven to Earth, but God comforts him, telling him all about this wonderful person he’s going to meet who is going to love and care for him always – his mom.

Did you know that Garth Brooks has founded a full-service, online music platform called GhostTunes? GhostTunes is a music platform that offers millions of songs, albums and products – even creative bundles for artists across all genres.

GhostTunes celebrates the personal connection between artists and listeners who live for and love their music.

I’ve been playing around with GhostTunes, checking out all that the site has to offer.

Unlike other music services, GhostTunes gives you the freedom to listen to the music you purchase on any device that you want whether it’s your laptop, desktop, smartphone or tablet. Simply download your purchases from your computer then transfer the music to any device you want. For Apple users you’ll need to sync the music with iTunes so you can transfer it to your other Apple devices. That is easy enough to do.

GhostTunes is not only for music fans but also for artists. It gives artists a new way to sell their music any way they want.

I was given a gift card to try out GhostTunes. To be honest it’s hard to narrow down my choices. There are several albums and singles I would love to add to my music collection. Plus my husband and kids have some songs they would like too. I’ll need to make up a list so we can narrow it down and make our final purchase.

GhostTunes is easy to use. You simply create a FREE account and you are all set to go. You can search GhostTunes by artist, song title or album or you can browse the music by genres, what’s new, popular music and even featured content.

Whether you like country, pop, classical, rock, jazz or comedy (there are more genres to choose from) – GhostTunes has music for you.

You can even listen to the music before you purchase it. You can also purchase entire albums or single songs. The prices are comparable to other music services.
