My week with the Pentax 645D.

This week was amazing!!! I feel so blessed to be able to spend the week with a Pentax 645D Medium Format camera with the 55mm 2.8 lens courtesy of Pentax USA. I selected a few of my favorite photographs from the week to share. I hope you enjoy them. Please remember that I have spent exactly SIX days (and no manual) with it so be kind.
When asked by a photographer friend what I planned on shooting with it my response was "EVERYTHING... until my hard drive gives out." This camera produces large (HUGE) files. The images that you see here are mostly the backup .jpeg files and straight out of the camera (except two b&w conversions.) I hope to spend some time with the RAW files but they will need to wait until I have some free time.
My personal goal with this camera was to hang it around my neck (using my vintage Pentax strap, of course and shoot with it as I would with my Olympus OM-D or PEN. EVERY camera I own must be able to keep up with my busy lifestyle which includes everyday life with family and homeschooling; tour pictures for Old Florida Airboat, interiors photos for the Cabinet Cottage, food photography for Kyle's blog, client portrait sessions, and more.
I found every second with this camera enjoyable. While some people question the size of this camera for everyday use, I found that carrying one body and lens to be very liberating. As my fellow shooters know, I usually I carry much more weight with my OM-D, large bag of lenses and a Polaroid 600SE.
This coming week I continue to test the camera and a different lens, the 90mm 2.8 macro lens. I am excited to see the macro results and hope to do some interiors and HDR. I hope you will follow along as I further explore the potential of this amazing camera.
Have a great Mother's Day Weekend.

Mommy Gator did NOT like us playing with this tiny hatchling. She came out of the water at us...growling and spitting. Yes, I ran like a sissy.
