MPCC confessional- I have a scent secret I am loathe to share. It's the kind of olfactory adventure that receives comment every single time I wear it. Even the dentist chair, where it happened yesterday mid-filling (I kid you not). What, you ask, could elicit such a response? By Kilian perfume, mais oui.

Lucky was the fan (moi) asked to sit and chat with the brand's CEO, Elisabeth Noel Jones and creator, Kilian Hennessy. Partners in business and marriage, this delightful pair were gracious to walk me through the brand history, their latest adventures, and of course, five questions with Mon Petit Chou Chou.

The pair landed in Boston last week, stopping at Saks Fifth Avenue to personally launch the latest addition to the Asian Tales collection (exclusive to Saks for the time being): Imperial Tea and Sacred Wood, with an event benefiting the MSPCA.

Not familiar with the line of scents by Kilian? Launched in 2007, by Kilian Hennessy of THE Hennessy family, by Kilian swiftly made a mark in the world of fragrance. His grandfather and namesake being the founder of LVMH- luxury is quite literally in his blood. Monsieur Hennessy studied at the Sorbonne and went on to hone his skills at the most prestigious of perfume houses, Armani, Paco Rabanne, Dior, and McQueen to name a few. Disillusioned with the industry and the way perfume was being mass produced he set out to launch his own label, envisioning a brand that focuses instead on ingredients, attention to detail, and luxury in a new modern way. Et voila, by Kilian was born.

"Real luxury is not disposable", according to Hennessy and you will find it in spades here, from the engraved bottles, to the lacquer boxes that keep the bottle under lock and key, details that would cost well north of the current price should he try to earn the margins of his competitors. The good news? The bottles are refillable at half the price of a new one.

The couple splits their time between Paris and NYC, though they have managed to circle the globe a few times between them with new stores in NYC (Meat packing) and Moscow, where you can find the exclusive scents Apple Brandy and Vodka on the Rocks, respectively.

In the works for 2014, five additional retail spaces set to debut in Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Seoul, and Dubai, which will have two stores all to themselves. Busy year for an amazing brand and lovely couple.

And now, my favourite part of all interviews, five questions with Mon Petit Chou Chou:

Last great bottle of wine you drank?

A bottle of Gevrey-Chambertin, 1982.

Top songs currently on repeat?

Monster, XO by Beyonce, Happy by Pharell Williams, anything by Emeli Sande, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z, Holy Grail.

Three dinner guests dead or alive you would break bread with?

Socrates, for sure, Stefan Zweig and Coco Chanel.

Last big purchase you made?

My future wife's wedding gift (a bespoke scent Hennessy created for Elisabeth, talk about the ULTIMATE gift, rumoured to be heavy on tuberose).

Last meal?

For us, anything by Joel Robuchon (with Caviar Kaspia getting honorable mention from Elisabeth).
