Monsoon and Accessorize SS14 Collections

The rain looks like it is going nowhere anytime soon, so whilst the gloom looms over us at the minute I am living an imaginary summer time vicariously through Spring/Summer collections. One of the recent collections I have been looking at is the Monsoon SS14 collection, sadly I wasn't at the press day we can all take a peek at the video taken on the day below here:

Mark Russell, design manager, talks SS14 styles and his take on the seasons trends. Monsoon transforms summers classic tribal prints with bright, vivid colours rather than a simple monochrome with bold accents as seen in previous seasons across the highstreet. There is alot of embroidery and crotchet to add texture to day wear and lurex jacquard prints on eveningwear. I rather like the blazer and skirt combo seen in the video above, the embroidered pieces are perfect for adding texture and my favourite – mismatching patterns. It seems that Monsoons signature embellishment has taken inspiration from around the globe with traditional Indian embroidery to a boho feel with tassels and mirror embellishments. The evening gown and wedding dresses in the Monsoon collections for SS14 have intricate details and seem a little vintage inspired.

The clothing above wouldn't be the same without the additional accessories which brings us of course to Accessorize's SS14 collection. Which before we take a look can I point out that this year they will be celebrating their 30th anniversary! I would never have guessed that Accessorize had been around for that long, I remember looking at the embellished totes in my teen years but not really thought about how long they had been on our high-streets. So lets wish them a big Happy 30th Birthday!

Accessorize have taken inspiration from a number of destinations for their latest collection to create pieces for every occasion. Mixing a combination of classic pieces in subtle tones with bold prints and vivid colours for the more adventurous accessory lover. As seen first on the video Accessorize have gone for a bold take on the sports lux trend that is make reappearance this spring summer. They have some adorable floral printed caps which will be looking out for when they are released, the baby blue one is gorgeous and I do love a good hat! Other than the sporty take on accessories there is a big focus on bags, with lots of bright colours, bold prints and lots of embellishments which ties in nicely with the Monsoon collection.

As far as I am aware the Spring Summer collections will be filtering its way into stores from February onwards so you don’t have long to find anything you’ve spotted on the videos!
What do you guys think? Did any of you make it to the press day when it was held?
