Running Backwards in High Heels

Dirty 30 in ATL

Friday morning, Becca and I loaded up and hit the road for Atlanta.. Molly was meeting us there for a girls weekend, since we all turn 30 this year! I hadn’t seen Molly since last April and a year is really too long!! I was surprised at how easy it was getting into Atlanta, since we were hitting it right at 5. Once we hit Buckhead though, that was another story. I really hate driving in Atlanta… I’m not sure how you people do that on a regular basis.

Friday night, we ate at Taco Mac and it was just as yummy as I remembered. We went out to Havana Club and while it wasn’t the best scene, it wasn’t terrible either. We stayed at the Grand Hyatt in Buckhead and they offered a car service to drive you and pick you up within 2 miles, which was so awesome!

Becca had never been to a club before, so I am sure that was quite the experience for her.

I woke up feeling a little worse for the wear on Saturday morning… clearly I’m not as young as I once was! I found this $5 bill in my wallet… is this how people are “buying” Instagram followers?? (Get it?)

Molly found a place online that had bottomless mimosa brunch. It was called Buckhead Saloon… we walked the mile there, only to find out they didn’t open for another hour and that they weren’t doing the brunch that day. So, we walked the mile back and found another place for brunch.. By then, I really wasn’t feeling so good. I was worried about the rest of my day because all I wanted to do was nap, but apparently, all I needed was some Vitamin D, because by the time we got back to the hotel, I was fine and ready to lay by the pool.

Gorgeous view… urban skyline with some beautiful greenery.

Saturday night, we walked to Maggiano’s for dinner. We didn’t get there until after 9 pm and there was a wait.. okay, Buckhead. You get started late and don’t get going until noon.

We had scouted a place called “Hole in the Wall” on our walk to brunch, and decided to go there Saturday night. As we were waiting on the the car to come take us, a woman said “Y’all look guilty!” and we told her not yet, that we were just getting ready to go out and she said that she was headed to bed. Without even thinking, I piped up with “Can I come with you?” because I was so tired. She replied with, “You better ask my husband!” He wasn’t sure how to respond to that, and after talking to him for a few minutes, we realized he was Andi Dorfman’s dad– the upcoming Bachelorette. I felt extremely awkward after that…

We didn’t stay long at Hole in the Wall… it was exactly that, and I didn’t like it. We witnessed a cat fight within 3 minutes of walking in, and were back in the hotel within 30 minutes.

We woke up and went and got coffee on Sunday and then went to see “The Other Woman” and it was super cute!

After a quick trip to Trader Joe’s for some road essentials, and one more group picture, we were on the road home. I was so sad to leave Molly.

I’m so thankful for the amazing friends that I have… this girls weekend was good for my soul and I can’t thank our husbands enough for letting us do this!

Have you ever done a girls trip?
