BIANCA LEIGH

If any of you remember I was on the hunt for a new blogger to join Le Gypsy only a few weeks ago. After an inbox full of applications from not only locally but overseas, I finally found the perfect person to join the blog. I am over the moon to introduce you to Bianca Leigh, a budding fashion photographer of Sephera Leigh and a self confessed shoe addict. The minute I saw her shoe collection and photography portfolio, I knew this was the beginning of something truly magical. So I took the opportunity to ask her some questions to share with you all after wrapping up photoshoot we have coming to the blog soon.

Who is Bianca Leigh?
Just a young fashion and fine art photographer, story teller and dreamer hoping to capture the beauty in my daily travels.

What influenced you to take up photography?
Ever since I was little I wanted to be a fashion designer or in some way apart of the fashion industry. When I was in my last two years of school I did a VET course at Whitehouse Institute of Design to see if it was for me. For our work books we needed to find inspiration so that lead me to Deviant Art which opened up a whole new world of creative arts and photography for me! I would spend days on end scrolling through the popular photos and those of the photographers I befriended and followed (those of which I will talk about later). After that I was hooked and have been doing it ever since!
How would you describe your personal style?
It really depends on my mood, but one thing I love is having a simple clean palette;black, whites, neutrals. I add pops of colour with a statement shoes or a cute clutch. I also love prints and lace when I'm in the mood for something different.

What are your staple pieces for Winter this year?
Would have to be suede ankle boots and really warm vintage coats. It's the perfect way to keep warm in this cold weather.
What is currently inspiring you?
At the moment it would be all the autumn leaves, even though they are fading now the colours are stunning. I live in an area which is lined with red, orange and yellow trees. So autumn is a magical time around my home and every time I look out my window it inspires me to go do something creative!

An important question are you a cat of a dog person?
Sorry Kristal, I know you are a cat person but I'm definitely going to have to say a dog person! Its my dream to own an Alaskan Malamute!
Who are some of your favourite Australian Designers?
Probably Carla Zampatti, I cannot stop myself from eyeing off her autumn/winter 2013 collection! Willow & Uscari are also favourites. But especially an old friend of mine who is a young upcoming Australian Designer, Sardis.

Whats on your wish list at the moment?
Apart from one of Carla Zampatti's dresses from her AW13 collectoin I could never have enough candles, I'm a little obsessed with them. The Tahaa fragrance by Glasshouse is mesmerising! I am also wishing for a Canon 85mm 1.2 lens.
Who are some of your favourite photographers that inspire you most?
Going back to the time when I first discovered Deviant Art, along with the obsession for photography came a respect and appreciation for young Australian photographers. Some of the photographers who gave me advice back then when we were all about 16 years old included the amazing Nirrmi and Julia Trotti.

So they are my favourite photographers, not only because they produce amazing images but because they are down to earth, inspiring people who took time out of building their own careers to encourage and grow my own career.

How would you describe your style of photography?
I never ever want to put a lid on my creative growth, so in saying that my photography could go in many different directions. But right now I would have to say my photography is very whimsical and emotive in its nature.
What camera and lenses do you love to shoot with?
I use a Canon 5D mrk II body, a 50mm 1.4 and a 70-200 2.8 lenses. Hopefully in the near future I will acquire an 85mm 1.2 for my collection.

I am so excited for what Bianca will bring to LeGypsy and she will sharing her photography, personal style and daily inspirations with you all next week when she takes over the blog completely while I am away for a Hens and then NZ for a few weeks. If anyone has any questions please feel free to email Bianca here: [email protected]
