Aromatherapy Associates Miniature Collection Bath & Shower Oils

You know when you really really want something for ages and FINALLY it’s in your hands and then it’s just a bit shit and you feel like you’ve wasted loads of money? That. That is what has happened and I blame blogging! This is one of a number of products I’ve now bought without prior ‘real life’ viewing, instead opting to order on a whim online and hope for the best, that has turned up and been so much smaller than I’d expected. This set of oils has done the rounds on beauty blogs and has been much raved about. I assume the reviews I’ve read have mostly been off the back of PR samples as quite frankly the fact that these TINY bottles (3ml each) of oil retail for £32 is terrifying. That's 21ml of product altogether - about two-thirds the size of your average foundation bottle. Given that—unless you’re very sparing with how much you use—one bottle will really only do for one bath, that means you’re paying nearly £5 per bath for the privilege. That's crazy money.

Luckily I bought these for £12 as I’d amassed enough Birchbox points to get £20 off and I still feel pretty ripped off. I know it’s kind of my fault as I should have actually researched how much oil was in these bottles but the amount of gushing I saw about these I just assumed that you got enough product for it to be at least slightly good or even adequate value for money (and I do understand that it’s a luxury brand—hell I buy from quite a lot of ‘luxury’ brands—but it honestly is just extortionate). If I’d have shelled out the full whack for this set I’d probably have returned it quite honestly and I am not a return-happy kinda gal.

Anyway, enough of me spewing vitriol about the price—the actual oils themselves. It’s quite clear that they are very good quality, my baths smell heavenly and my skin is left soft. I do believe in aromatherapy for calming the mind and I love nothing more than a hot soaky bath with some lavender oil to help me drift off, and these promise a range of outcomes from 'relaxing' to 'reviving' to 'supporting'. They do help to ease the mind and body after a long day, but again for £32, so does sleeping with some cheap lavender oil on the pillow or - even better - get someone to give you a massage - it's thirty-two times cheaper than these measly bottles of oil!
The Aromatherapy Associates Miniature Collection Bath & Shower Oils are £32 (!!!!) here.
