Soothing Sensitivity with Trilogy Skincare

If you’re new to my blog, firstly hello!, and secondly I’ll give you a quick recap—I have dry skin that often strays into sensitive territory and am alwayson the hunt for products that promise to reduce redness and keep sore, irritated, dry patches away.

Trilogy was a brand I’d heard of only really for its Rosehip Oil (which is on my to-do list once I use up my brilliant Clarins Blue Orchid Face Oil). That all changed with the acquisition of their Very Gentle Calming Serum and the Very Gentle Moisturising Cream—two products that haven’t gone unused a single day since I got my hands on them.

A bit of Trilogy ‘history’—they’re ethical, their products are sustainably sourced and it’s very much a natural brand. It was born back in 2002, the brain child of New Zealand sisters Sarah Gibbs and Catherine de Groot and they started with the Rosehip Oil—something that is touted worldwide as a must-have, hero product. As a brand Trilogy have amassed quite the loyal following and I’m happy to say I absolutely see why. On to the products…

Trilogy Very Gentle Calming Serum* This is quite a 'wet' serum - and not oil based, so think along the lines of Caudalie's Vinosource SOS Serum and you've got the idea. It aims to soothe the skin's barrier and calm skin of all sensitivities, whether allergy prone or suffering conditions that leave it dry and painful. It provides a light, slow releasing source of hydration and also contains ingredients designed to battle the hands of time - so if you use anti-ageing products, definitely don't turn your nose up at this. It's free of fragrance and essential oils and is very much a 'get the job done' product - there's no gimmicks to it and I find that really refreshing. A quick (and scaled down) list of sciencey ingredients: aloe, chamomilla, calendula, soybean, camellia, rosemary, citric acid. Results wise: this is so hydrating and soothing I can't quite get my head around it. As someone with red and easily inflamed skin, this has been a complete godsend. It does the soothing job whilst being super hydrating and my skin has never felt more comfortable. I really would rate this a must have for any sensitive complexions.

Trilogy Very Gentle Moisturising Cream*
A creamy, non-greasy yet buttery moisturiser, this stuff has worked wonders. If I've gone a bit overboard with the cleansing and my skin is starting to get red and sore, a quick slather of this stuff and it's instantly calmed. Like the serum it's fragrance free but this one does contain a slightly higher amount of essential oils and last on its ingredients list (so a really tiny amount) is alcohol: possibly not ideal for the most sensitive among us. I would say though if you are super sensitive, maybe do a patch test of this as it's definitely not something I'd write off - it is so gentle, so soothing and really hydrating - a perfect moisturiser for day or night and one of the best things I've ever done for my skincare regime!

I think Trilogy products are very reasonably priced given the quality of ingredients and the efficacy of the formulas and would absolutely repurchase these - I plan to anyway as soon as they run out!

Have you ever tried Trilogy skincare? Does it sound like something that would appeal to you?
