All things unnecessary.

To put a long story short and as nicely as possible, many people (myself included) were victims of an act of all things fucked up. The previous host of our websites bailed, cut off all contact with every single client, and failed to pay the server bill (fell 3 months behind), so therefore, the server was shut down. The fight to get access to our files and backups was a lot more painful than it should have been, but at the end of it all, we were successful in negotiating a deal with the server to give us access to our files, and thus, I return after many weeks… on a different server and a legit company. Props to HostClearly and of course Dan for homing me under his reseller.

If you aren’t responsible enough to run and pay to keep a server online, why make your clients suffer? Were you too man to give us a heads up (in advance) that the server would be shutting down? Did you have too much pride to tell us that you just couldn’t afford it? Of course not. Nothing better than also cutting off all contact with your clients who inquired. Sounds like nothing more than a coward to me. *cough*

Lesson(s) learned: Daily backups. Don’t purchase hosting from an individual without doing research – seeing as this individual didn’t even have a website up and offered super cheap plans should have been a red flag at the beginning.

As the site went down, I was in the just starting to put together the base of a new theme, but I deleted it out of frustration. Obviously, seeing as it’s been weeks since I’ve even been able to attempt working on it1, I’ve lost about 90% of my motivation and spark, so it’s probably going to take a few more weeks, if not a month – in between work, personal time, and being a picky little asshole. It’s so irritating!

Hopefully, a more cheerful entry to come soon with updates on my ever-so-exciting life. YAY!
