My Picks For The Best Affordable Holiday Dresses

Holiday season is almost upon us, which means parties and lots of pictures being posted on Instagram. This has many of us standing in front of our closets moping about having nothing new to wear. I’ve rounded up my picks for the best resources to get a new little number that will definitely make the cut for your new profile picture.

1. Rent The Runway

Need a showstopper dress that you’ll likely only ever wear once? This is the site to use. I love Rent the Runway especially for black tie gowns like this one from Badgley Mischka – why spend over $600 when you can rent it for the night for $90? You can view what other renters looked like in the dress and even order two sizes just to be certain you get the right fit.

2. Revolve

Revolve is one of my favorite online stores with an incredible selection of on-trend pieces at mid-range (think Zara) prices. They often have great sales with amazing finds, and always check for a promo code on a site like Retailmenot. I got 10% off my recent order this way using the code TULIP. I actually just purchased my dress for New Years Eve on Revolve for $209 – super affordable and I won’t see 10 other girls wearing it like if I had shopped at Intermix and spent twice that amount (I better not see you wearing my dress or I’ll cut you. Just kidding. Unless you look better in it).

3. Asos

Asos is great for finding good quality, trendy dresses for under $100. With free shipping both ways and hundreds of styles to choose from, it’s a great resource for staple pieces and little black dresses that you can wear over and over again. Again, always look for promo codes for 10 – 20% off — right now the promotion is for students, but if you’re an old lady like me just google it.

4. Nasty Gal

Nasty Gal is my favorite site for sexy pieces to wear when there are no meeting of parents involved and you’re likely getting intoxicated. The prices are super reasonable and they also offer free return shipping if you realize you’re not as brave as you thought you were. They have more conservative dresses as well, but hey, why not show a little skin at the office party? #promotion (just kidding, unless you think it will get you a promotion).

If you’re really on a tight budget and would rather save your money for gifts for family… or booze, or whatever — just wear one of your amazing dresses from you closet and dress it up with some accessories. Add a belt or a statement necklace – get a blowout and you’re good to go. The other option is to call all of your friends who have great dresses and put dibs on one of theirs. No matter what, you won’t need to break the bank to look great this year. Have any other great resources? Let us know in the comments below!
