News from the Curio – 3

Good Sunday everyone!

The weather has been awesome this weekend and I feel like summer is finally here! We spent a good moment with friends on Saturday, as well as a nice lunch in the park today. It was so nice to sit under the trees and feel a bit of warmth in the air after all the rain and gray skies of the past few days. Even though I’m not a fan of summer on its hottest days, I can still appreciate a bit of blue skies and green trees, and this was a great day to do it!

Read this Week

My reading has been smaller in terms of quantity this week but it has been GREAT, so it really doesn’t matter – I’d take great reading over lots of reading, any day! I finished Another Little Piece which I reviewed here and it was quite the awesome horror story. For those who love doing the R.I.P. challenge in the fall, this one would be a great pick in the YA Horror genre! I also read (and I’m almost done) with The Queen of the Tearling and it is really awesome, too! I didn’t know I was needing a good fantasy story until I started reading it, but oh, it is SO what I need to read right now. Review to come this Tuesday!

Read it, Hear it!

There are so many good reasons to pick an audiobook!

I had been planning on rereading The Fault in Our Stars before the movie came out, and I can’t remember why I decided to go down the audiobook road for the occasion, but I am certainly glad I did! I feel that I noticed things in audio I hadn’t on paper, and the dialogue felt a lot more natural than in my imagination. I liked it a lot the first time I read it, but hearing it made me fall in love with it. I am really looking forward to seeing the movie later this month!

Have any of you experienced this with some favorite books? Now I am wondering if there are stories I should re-discover by ear!

As for The Thousand Dollar Tan Line, I added it to my e-bookshelf recently, and was really looking forward to getting more of Veronica Mars’ adventures via reading. I was disappointed when I found out the story wasn’t narrated by the character of Veronica, so you can imagine my excitement when I discovered that the audiobook version was being read by Kirsten Bell! And this way I’ll get a bit of Veronica through the dialogs. If this isn’t an awesome reason to get an audiobook, I don’t know what is! Once I am done with TFiOS, this is what I’ll be listening to!

Filling the Shelf – 143

Filling the Shelf simply is Mailbox Monday, but with a title that suits my blog! If you’re interested in joining the fun or seeing what other bloggers added to their shelves, click away! (but beware, visiting other mailboxes will probably add to your neverending wishlist!)

A couple books added to the real shelf this week! I have heard some really, really awesome things about The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry and so I am a bit nervous about reading it!

Love Letters to the Dead by Ava Dellaira – The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin
